Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle is an anime movie based on the Neo Geo SNK hit video game, Fatal Fury and is a sequel to the previous movie, Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf. The movie was character designed and directed by acclaimed director Masami Obari. The movie was distributed by Viz Media.

After his defeat at the hands of Terry Bogard, Geese Howard retreats to the mountains where he lives his life. One day, his half brother, Wolfgang Krauser, visits him and wants to know who was the one who defeated him. Geese Howard told him.
In another part of the country, Terry Bogard meets up with a young boy named Tony who wants to be just like Terry. Tony witnessed him battle with Kim Kaphwan and ask to be his disciple but Terry refuses. Later Terry encounter Wolfgang Krauser and they fight each, but due to Terry's injuries and his battle with Kim, he lost the fight. Wolfgang told Tony to rest up and if he heals up to meet him in Germany at Strauhind Castle.
Geese makes a plan to take down Krauser.
Terry wakes up in Tony's home and had been taken care of by Tony's mother. Tony was not there. Not to disturb their peace and harmony, Terry left. Later, Tony notices Terry leaving using the Train and wants him to stay but Terry refuses. Tony says that he wants to go with him but Terry would not allow it because for the worry of his mother. After Terry leaves by train, not listening to his advice, Tony followed him.
Terry's defeat causes him to start drinking and going to bars. One day, he ends up being beaten up by street thugs and left in a pile of garbage. Tony helps him up, determine to help Terry to straighten up so that he can get ready for his next fight with Wolfgang Krauser. But Terry was too depressed with his defeat that he throws away he fighting gloves.
In Japan, Mai Shiranui comes to the dojo where Master Jubei and Andy Bogard lives. She wanted to see Andy. She first meets up with Master Jubei. Master Jubei, being the pervert that he is, touches Mai's chest and ends up with a slap from her fan. She leaves him to find Andy.
At the river, Andy trains hard until he was rudely interrupted by Mai. He said is was good to see her but she consider it an insult. Andy being clueless of Mai's affections towards him ends up getting hit by Mai's special move. All of a sudden, Joe Higashi appears telling Andy that his brother lost a fight and has gone underground.
Later that night, Master Jubei tells Andy and Joe about who Wolfgang Krauser is. Wolfgang Krauser came from a noble family known as the Strolheims, who acts as Royal Bodyguards to the European Royal Families but that was just a cover-up. It is said that his family has overthrown governments and started revolts. For this, they have named the Head of the Strolheim Family, "The Emperor of Darkness" and Wolfgang Krauser was the best to have came out of the family. Later, Mai eavesdrop on Master Jubei's story. Master Jubei also told Andy and Joe that Wolfgang Krauser killed his own father on his 16th birthday just to be head of the family.
Back in Krauser mansion, Krauser thinks about his father, about the day he beaten up by him as a child and that day that his tears ran dry. He also remembered on his 16th birthday, when he killed his father in hand-to-hand combat. He felt nothing after his death.
Back at Master Jubei's dojo, Master Jubei tells both Andy and Joe not to get involved with Wolfgang Krauser, but Andy angered by his brothers defeat refuses to listen. Even Mai does not want him to go. And for this, Master Jubei challenges Andy for leaving the dojo. If Andy won the match, he may leave but if he lost, he had to continue his training. Andy won the match and left with Joe to seek revenge for his brother's defeat. Master Jubei asked Mai to go with him and to make sure that he does not fight Krauser.
Somewhere in a park, Terry was asleep after drinking too much alcohol. Later a bunch of punks woke Terry up and ask him for money but Terry did not have any and threatens them if they did not go away. The bunch of guys were angered by Terry words tried to beat him up but they ended up being the ones that beaten up. The word of the fight ended being spread through town and ended up with Tony hearing about it so he investigated and he was right, Terry was involved and Terry ended up in jail.
At the airport, Andy and Joe make plans on what to do. Joe makes plans to find Terry while Andy, while being tagged along with Mai, will take care of Krauser.
Terry able to get released from prison with the help from Joe but he was ashamed to see Terry in his state and left him to his own devices. Tony is still determined to help Terry get out of his drunken state.
In Germany, Andy and Mai tried to find Krauser but they found out that he was out of country to escort the Queen of Nottingham. Mai uses this advantage to stick around the country just to spend time with him. Andy did not have a choice. Both characters separate. Mai went shopping and along the way, she meets Lawrence Blood, Krauser's right-hand man, who found out about Mai and Andy attempts to take on his Lord Krauser. So Mai and Lawrence Blood fought each other in the ruins and she lost the match. Andy later was about Mai being gone for a long time so he searches for her.
By the time Andy found Mai, she was tied to a pillar with her clothes torn opened, nearby was Lawrence Blood. Andy ask what he did to her. Lawrence said he attacked her for over-stepping her bounds. Andy, angered by this, engages and defeats Lawrence Blood with his special moves. He saves Mai and apologizes to her and they decide to go home. Mai felt lucky to be in Andy's arms.
Terry starts drinking again and Tony tries to make him stop. Around that time a man moves toward Terry and challenges him to a fight. It was Axel Hawk with his sparring partner. But seeing Terry drunk did not convince him that he was able to fight. Tony tries to stop them from bother Terry and ends up fighting Axel's sparring partner. Tony seemed to be losing.
Terry had a dream of his childhood where he was beaten up and told himself to get stronger so that he can avenge his father. A few years after being well trained he was able to go back to that man who beaten him up and win. Terry wakes up from his dream and sees Tony, reminding him of his childhood. Tony beaten up badly by Axel's sparring partner never gave up and Axel's sparring partner eventually gave up. Terry checked Tony if he was OK and said that he was able to win thanks to Terry's gloves. Angered by Axel Hawk, Terry challenges Axel and wins the match. Thanks to Tony, Terry recovers himself and was eager to take on Krauser again and heads off to Germany by motorcycle with Tony.
In another country, Wolfgang Krauser was watching the Queen of Nottingham in his hotel room and he had an uninvited guest, Joe Higashi. Joe, who wishes to avenge Terry for his defeat, takes on Krauser but he was not able to defeat him, even with his finishing move, the Screw-Upper, and ends up being beaten with 2 dozen broken bones.
Along the way to Germany, Terry stops along the way so that he can prepare himself for his next battle but feels that he was not strong enough. All of a sudden, the spirits of Lily and Tung Fu Rue came by and encouraged Terry that he can win this fight.
Hearing about Joe's injuries in a newspaper, Terry and Tony, head off to the hospital that Joe was admitted. In that hospital, Terry and Tony meet Mai who is taking care of Joe. Terry and Joe start talking and Joe told Terry that Andy will meet him at the Cemetery where they last went their separate ways.
When Andy and Terry meet up, they decided to battle each other with everything they got and the victor will fight Krauser in Germany. Terry won the match and was able to learn a new technique, the Power Geyser.
The next day, Terry and Tony were at Strollheim Castle in Germany and Terry takes on Krauser. The battle was fierce, destroying everything that surrounds them. Tony was shocked to watch the battle that he looked away. In the end, Terry wins the match with Multiple Punches that made Krauser bleed internally. Shamed by his defeat, Krauser kills himself by throwing himself out of the hole that Terry made from the battle and drowning in the sea. Terry walks towards Tony and sees him shook up by the battle. Terry tells him that fighting only leaves emptiness and both left the castle.
Geese Howard hears about Krauser death and he laughs.
Terry sends Tony to the nearest station so that he can go home. At the station, Tony sees his mom and gives her a hug. Terry leaves. Tony says goodbye to him and promises him that someday he will be a great martial artist just like Terry. Terry, on his motorcycle, throws him his cap.
