Detective Conan: The Phantom of Baker Street (名探偵コナン ベイカー街(ストリート)の亡霊 Meitantei Konan Beikā Sutorīto no Bōrei?) is the 6th Detective Conan movie. It was first screened on April 20, 2002, and was the first Detective Conan movie whose script was not written by Kazunari Furuuchi; it was written by Hisashi Nozawa, famed Japanese scriptwriter. For this reason, this movie is considered much "deeper" than other movies of the series, discussing problems such as education, and the social structure of Japan as a whole.

[edit] Plot
[edit] Prologue
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States. Child prodigy Hiroki Sawada-- who by the age of ten already a graduate school student in MIT and previously developed the DNA Tracker software-- is now in the final stage of his second major work, an artificial intelligence system called Noah's Ark, in a heavily guarded room.
Hiroki has been under the guardianship of Thomas Schindler, owner of the software giant Schindler, Inc, since his mother died. He has been put under a rigorous study program and was somewhat deprived of his childhood life.
At this night, at the top of the Schindler building where Hiroki lives, he finishes the Noah's Ark, he sent the software using the telephone lines and typed "Noah's Ark Sailed Out."
The security found the irregularities, but after they finally broke into Hiroki's room-- with Schindler-- Hiroki was not in the room. Appreantly he lept to his death. His computer screen shown the image of an ark sailing in water, and then the words "Good-bye HIROKI."
Hiroki's final line was, "I wonder if I can fly too, like Noah's Ark?"
[edit] The Beika City Hall
Two years later, at the Beika City Hall, the Schneider company made a demonstration on a virtual reality game system called Cocoon. The kids, including the Detective Boys were invited for the demonstration. It was revealed that the kids with badges were chosen for the demonstration. Just then, Doctor Agasa and Booker Kudo arrives for the demonstration. Agasa gave Conan a gift of that badge, and told Conan that his mother Vivian Kudo wouldn't be coming there, due to having an alumni reunion.
Agasa once again gave the Detective Boys a quiz. The gang decided to have badges for themselves. Just then, Schindler killed Kashimura-- one of his top employees, and Kashimura's final message was JTR. After Conan discovered murder, he decided to go to the game that would lead to the answer. Yusaku found out that JTR is for Jack the Ripper, the criminal who is never captured by the Scotland Yard.
[edit] The Game
Just as when the game begins, Noah's Ark came to life, and tells the audience that if all 50 kids lost the game, it will destroy everything that it was in their heads. There are 5 stages in the game, and Conan decided to take on the final stage (a recreation of a Sherlock Holmes mystery). Meanwhile, Booker investigates the case, and Schindler hopes to eliminate all the kids. In the game, Conan finds out that the inventions he has doesn't work on the game. Booker finds out that the culprit is the president of the game Thomas Schindler, who is then revealed to be a descendant of Jack the Ripper but will stop at nothing to hide his secret. Schindler is arrested immediately.
Conan confronts Jack the Ripper on the top of a train, who ties up Rachel. Rachel decided to make a sacrifice by jumping off the train and into a ravine, taking Jack the Ripper with her. Conan begins to lose hope when Sherlock Holmes appeared and gave Conan some useful advice that eventually helped Conan and the the other surviving child, Hideki Maraboshi, to survive in the game. After winning the game, Conan finds out that Hideki is actually Hiroki, due to his hatred for the soccer ball from an earlier scene in 221B Baker Street. Booker is proud of Conan for winning the game. At the end of the game, all the children are released, and Hiroki a.k.a. Noah's Ark ends his life for good.
[edit] Postcredits
At the night in Mouri Detective Agency, Conan practices the game Pac-Man.
[edit] Notes
- It is the first time Booker appears without Vivian; the reason why she didn't come back to Japan is because she had an alumni reunion. She, however, did somehow appear in the movie, as the Irene Adler in the story-- Booker modelled the look of Adler after his wife.
- Hiroki is the only character who knows Conan's real identity who is not part of the main continuity.
- The steam engine pulling the train during the climax of the movie is a GNR Stirling 4-2-2.
