Control: The Remixes was a remix album released by Janet Jackson in 1987 following the success of her "Control" album. Although never released in America, the album was the first of its kind to be issued as an album of remixes. Jackson's contemporaries Madonna and Jody Watley would release their own remix albums following Jackson and other artists including brother Michael Jackson, R&B queen Mariah Carey, pop diva Jennifer Lopez and R&B group Destiny's Child who released their own remix albums. Jackson's remixes to songs like "The Pleasure Principle" were hits on American radio though. Several of the remixes, notably "When I Think Of You" and "Control" were the versions featured in the respective music videos. Most of the remixes were also available as B-Sides to the original versions. By the late 1990's, Control: The Remixes had sold nearly 2 million copies worldwide [citation needed].
