Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: The Second Cataclysm was a console and computer game made by Rocket Science Games based on the Xenozoic Tales licence. Not to be confused with the earlier Capcom arcade game Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, it was the second game made by Rocket Science being released in 1994 for the Sega CD and later the PC. Best described as a FMV on rails shooter, it boasted superior graphics for its day and an overall high level of production quality.

While many reviewers made special note to comment on its amazing graphics and rendering style, which stayed true to its comic book origins, overall reviews were mixed. Many of the complaints mentioned were repetitive gameplay, a high learning curve, short total play time and a lack of replayability once completed. Poor support of the Sega CD by Sega in the United States didn't help matters either. These reasons coupled with the stigma of FMV games and their perceived poor quality, due in part to a flood of shoddy games using the technology, also failed to endear Cadillacs and Dinosaurs with audiences. Rocket Science Games also noticed the failure of FMV in the marketplace and soon abandon it even after they had claimed it would be the next big step in games development. After producing only two titles using full FMV they chose not to release the Sega CD version of the FMV game Wing Nuts even though work had already been completed, giving it only a limited release on the PC. Development on other FMV based titles, like Darkride, stopped entirely.
