[edit] Storyline
The game's story follows the events of Contra: Legacy of War. It follows, Ray, the only surviving member of the Contra task force (who is originally from Contra: Hard Corps), attacking an alien invasion in the jungles of South America.
[edit] Gameplay
There are a total of ten levels in the game, which are shown through multiple perspectives, depending on the level: (traditional) sides-scrolling, third person, and overhead. One of the third person sequences, the "Hunting" level, plays almost exactly the same as the interior missions in the original Contra). All the innovations that were introduced in Contra: Legacy of War are maintained in this game: memory card saving, hit-points, three-dimensional fire fights. However, the gameplay varies depending on the level and perspective used.
[edit] Levels
- City Rescue - sidescrolling
- Village - third-person 3-d
- Canyon - overhead
- Pyramid - third-person 3-d
- Weightless - Sidescrolling
- Hunting - third-person 3-d
- Alien Lair - sidescrolling
[edit] Fan reaction
C: The Contra Adventure is generally regarded by fans of the series as the worst title to carry the name "Contra". The graphics were criticized as bland, the music was criticized as severely lacking, there are multiple digitized sound artifacts, and there are gameplay balance issues with several of the guns. Also very disappointing to long-time fans was its lack of multiplayer support. The trademark simultaneous play has been the series' main allure since its inception.
