Arden: The World of Shakespeare is a massively multiplayer online game currently under development by a team led by Edward Castronova of Indiana University.

It is being sponsored by a $240,000 MacArthur Foundation grant. The game is planned to be used for the unusual purpose of running academic social experiments, in addition to teaching players about the works of William Shakespeare.
