Thanks for uploading Image:Abdulhamid I.jpg and Image:Abdullahbinabdulaziz.jpg. I notice these images currently don't have any image copyright tags. Could you add them to let us know whether it's released under the GFDL, whether fair use is claimed, or what? Thanks, Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 16:09, Oct 1, 2004 (UTC)

P.S. Also, how about Image:Ayubkhan.jpg? P.P.S: How about Image:Faisal mosque.jpg?

[edit] Unverified images

Hi! Thanks for uploading the following images:

I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much. Peter O. (Talk, automation script) 07:23, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)

P.S. You can help tag other images at User:Yann/Untagged_Images. Thanks again.

[edit] Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] Proper format for university2box

Hi, I just looked at the Adelphi University site, and thought all the html in the code was strange, so I looked at Columbia University, and it turns out there is a nice markup way of doing this - rather than copying the html from another university, which I assumed is what you did. So I cleaned it up. Nice to know for the future. Hou Shuang 17:44, 11 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:

I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? [edit] Entering non-Latin texts

How can I write text in non-Latin texts, what I mean to say is, is there a standard program or something? If anyone knows, please let me know in my My Talk Page. Thanks ThaGrind 10:29, 5 Feb 2004 (UTC)

 • If it's just for a single character or few, type html enities. [1] has a Special query to display HTML entities.
 • A nice alternative is to use the clickable symbols below your edit window. If your browser supports it.
 • If it's about a non-Latin word or quote from another language Wikipedia, or any Website, for that matter, copy+paste them from one Browser window to another. This works with Firefox, does not with (a somenwhat old-ish Version of) Internet Explorer (@my work). So I got old Greek, Sanskrit, Hindi, Cyrillic names into german 'Ethymology' or 'translated from/original name' sections, without even having understood how to read or write theses.
 • If your source does not permit copy+paste, maybe it's print on paper, you could make a scan, or if it's simple and easy enough, create an image with your favorite graphic program.
 • If it's about typing own articles or entire passages in foreign script that you cannot copy+paste, you probably know how to write that script, at least with pen and paper. I suggest getting a keyboard driver that supports it. German Wikipedia has an article linking to driver webpages. I tried none of them. Maybe, that page is available in English, too. --Purodha Blissenbach 04:58, 2005 Jun 26 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Fc1 1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Fc1 1.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. bluemask 08:55, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:Selim_III.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Selim_III.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as db-unksource.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Yahyakhan.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Yahyakhan.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
