That Stubborn Kinda Fellow is a 1963 album by Marvin Gaye, the singer's second. Released on the Tamla (Motown) label, That Stubborn Kinda Fellow did what Gaye's debut, The Soulful Moods of Marvin Gaye, failed at; it established Gaye as a new rising force in R&B.

The album did not chart, but it did yield three hit singles for Gaye: "Stubborn Kind of Fellow", "Hitch Hike", and "Pride & Joy" , his first Top 10 hit on the U.S. pop singles chart. Also included is the single "You Are a Wonderful One". With these hit records and hit album, Gaye joined the ranks of Motown hitmakers, such as The Miracles, Stevie Wonder, and Mary Wells, as the stars of a label that was still searching for its sound.

While not released as a single in America and heavily played in England, "Whenever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)" has become a legendary soul standard and was most notable for its 1982 hit cover by Paul Young.
