[edit] Synopsis

When the Charmed Ones discover that an old man named Nicholas, who has been visiting the Manor once a year, is actually a young Warlock looking to kill them for their powers, they create a spell to go back in time to find out why he is immune to their powers. They travel back to 1975 and see, not only themselves as young magical children, but their mother and Grams alive and well. Soon they discover that their mother Patty was forced to give Nicholas immunity to their powers because otherwise, he would have killed her and foetus Phoebe who she was pregnant with. Once they return to the future, a spell is added to the book to destroy Nicholas, which they are quick to use.

[edit] Enemies

  • Nicholas: A low level warlock who kidnapped the Charmed Ones' mother when she was pregnant with Phoebe. He was able to convince her to give him immunity from the Charmed One's powers in exchange for Patty's and her daughter's lives. Soon after, Patty bound her daughters' powers as a temporary way of stalling time before he could steal their powers. Discovering this, Nicholas magically aged himself and posed as a would-be suitor for Grams. Each year he would appear on the same day with a vase of flowers for her at exactly twelve noon. In the middle of the clock's gong, he would drop the flowers to see if one of the Charmed Ones would freeze it before the vase broke. When this finally happened, he realized that the Charmed Ones had their powers and tried to take them. He was eventually killed via a spell from the Book of Shadows.

[edit] Spells

  • To Undo A Bond: The bond which was not to be done, give us the power to see it undone, and turn back time to whence it was begun.
  • To Return To One's Own Time: Several herbs are needed for this spell as well as a powerful magical being to speak the spell. A time for everything and to everything its place. Return what has been moved through time and space.
  • Nicholas Must Die Spell: Must possess a pouch of lavendar, mamosa and thistle. Throw it's contents in a container and say the words: Lavendar, mamosa, holy thistle. Cleanse this evil from our midst. Scatter his cells throughout time. Let this Nick no more exist.

[edit] Trivia

  • In the episode Thank You For Not Morphing the Charmed Ones' father gives them a video tape of the entire family present at Christmas, including Phoebe. This episode shows that he actually left the family before Phoebe was born. [Note: their father could have returned when he found out Patty was pregnant with Phoebe because in future episodes, it is shown that he was there after Patty died.]
  • The episode title is a play on words to the television series That '70s Show.
  • In the episode, little Piper has green eyes, but adult Piper has hazel ones.
  • The warlock Nicholas appears again in the episode Witch Trial, but is portrayed by a different actor.
  • This is the first time the Charmed Ones travelled through time.
  • The episode reveals the girls were born with their powers.
  • Never Can Say Goodbye by Gloria Gaynor plays over the opening sequence to illuminate the fact that the episode is set in the 70s.
  • Little Prue channels her telekinesis through her eyes as well as and her hands.
  • The girls knew Andy when they were children.
  • The episode reveals that Grams had the power of telekinesis, just like Prue.
  • 1975 was the first time the power of three was used (little Prue, Piper, and with an unborn Phoebe in Patty.)
  • Many times in the series it has been stated that good witches don't freeze, and in How to Make a Quilt from Americans, the girls don't freeze when a demon has Piper's power. Yet in That '70s Episode, little Piper is able to freeze older Prue and Piper. Maybe this is because, the girls were powerless at that time.
  • This is the second time the Halliwells got arrested. The first was in Wicca Envy.
  • It is stated that witches arnt supposed to use their powers in public, but Little Piper freezes the ball in mid-air in a public park.
  • Ted King does not appear in this episode. However, Andy does appear as a child.
