[edit] Plot summary
It is November 24, 1976 at 3:45 PM. The Formans are at the bus stop waiting for Laurie to return home for Thanksgiving. Red tells Eric that she is bringing a friend and she will sleep in his room, so he's going to sleep in the basement. Also Red's mom is going to come, much to Kitty's displeasure. Laurie then introduces her friend Kate, who begins flirting with Eric.
When the gang hangs out later in the Hub, Jackie warns Donna that she should be worried that a college girl is sleeping in his room. Meanwhile, with some urging from Midge, Bob offers Red a job at his appliance store during the holidays which Red at first denies. Grandma keeps calling the house making sure that someone will pick her up which really starts to upset Kitty.
Later that night Eric goes into his room to get something to sleep on but finds Kate on his bed in her nightgown dancing with his G.I. Joe's. She flirts with him, to which he flirts back, then french kisses him.
On Thanksgiving day Kitty tells Red that Laurie asked for a portable TV for her dorm room and Kitty tries to convince Red to take Bob's offer.
Eric tells the guys about the kiss and when Donna shows up to ask what they're talking about, Eric immediately blurts out he kissed Kate and all the guys leave disappointed, after which Donna leaves upset at Eric. Red finds out about what happened and confronts Eric, telling him that the reason things always seem to happen to him is because he's a dumbass, so he needs to fix it, which he tries unsuccessfully at Donna's house.
The Forman's start dinner but something is missing. Grandma calls and Kitty immediately gets Eric and Laurie out the door to go get her saying they left awhile ago. The kids come back saying Grandma has chosen to spend Thanksgiving at Cousin Joel's. The phone rings and this time Kitty has had enough so she just starts eating her dinner.
After dinner they throw a party and Red and Bob are on the couch eating pie. Red asks Bob if his store has a discount on portable TVs, and Bob tells him that they are 20% off, to which Red agrees to work for Bob. Eric talks to Donna one more time, this time stressing that, yes, the kiss was great, but if he could he'd take it back because it's not worth ruining their relationship. She forgives him and he french kisses her.
