Thank God It's Friday (song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thank God It's Friday is a 1978 disco song by the studio disco group Love and Kisses, popularized as the theme song of the film by the same name. The song's catchphrase tantalized listeners with the prospect of love at the discotheque: "Hey / Put a smile on your face / Things are coming your way / Out there somewhere tonight".
Love And Kisses was a disco studio group and also considered an alias of producer Alec R. Costandinos Vocals were by Vickie Brown, Stephanie De Sykes, Sue Glover, Sunny Leslie and Alec R. Costandinos himself. After previous club chart success with the group's 1977 smash "I Found Love Now That I've Found You" and Alec's own "Romeo And Juliet", Casablanca records came to him to ask to record the theme tune to a new film they were working on. Hence, "Thank God It's Friday" was recorded along with one other new tune for the film, "You're The Most Precious Thing In My Life". While Alec continued to make a few more top hits on the US club charts under Love & Kisses, "Thank God It's Friday" was the only record of Alec's in any form to score or be known to the pop charts in America, making his Love & Kisses project a "one hit wonder" to the common pop music fan. The song charted to #21 in the summer of 1978 in the US. Love & Kisses 2 other club hits to follow were "How Much How Much I Love You" later in 1978, and then "You Must Be Love" in 1979.
