Thana Bhawan

Thana Bhawan is a small town in Muzaffarnagar District, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is the birthplace of the famous Islamic scholar Ashraf Ali Thanvi.

It is situated on Delhi Saharanpur highway around 120 km from Delhi.

During 1857 Indian Rebellion, in Thana Bhawan, the Sunnis declared Haji Imdadullah their Ameer. In May 1857 the famous Battle of Shamli took place between the forces of Haji Imdadullah and the British.
