A text move, while not limited to moving text to talk pages, often is just that.

When it's done as an alternative to deleting a large passage of text from an article, it typically has two steps:

  1. cutting a disputed passage of text from an article; and,
  2. pasting the text into the article's talk page

Editors attempting text moves should not ignore consensus or try to force their changes by edit warring. It's better to to discuss the disputed passage with other contributors.
