How can I change the title to TMS320C64xx ? Should do this so it fits with the main TI page. Alxx
The C6455 is based on the newer C64+ CPU which offers up to 8 16x16 MACs/cycle. Should there be a separate page for the C64+ CPU? It's a somewhat more capable CPU than the base C64x CPU. In addition to doubling the number of 16-bit MACs, it also adds complex-multiply support, 32x32 multiply support, a hardware loop buffer, exception support, supervisor/user privilege support, some specialized arithmetic instructions and a more compact instruction format to reduce code size. (I should know. I'm a member of the C6000 team at TI.) --Mr z 17:27, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Also, the C64xx processors are not strictly code compatible with the C67xx CPUs. While it's true that integer code that runs on C62xx will run on C67xx and C64xx, floating point code for the C67xx will not run on C64xx CPUs, as they do not implement floating point. The opcode spaces of the C64xx and C67xx are compatible, however, meaning that it is theoretically possible to implement the C64xx and C67xx instruction sets on the same device, producing a backward compatible superset of both devices. --Mr z 17:30, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
