[edit] Opus Dei: a section title and balance

Terence-- thank you so much for helping out before by lending your eyes to Opus Dei. This is an issue that attracts lots of passionate people on all sides, so true outsider eyeballs are greatly prized by all. :) If you have a second, could you look things over and give us some feedback?

Here's the latest on Talk:Opus Dei. One issue is on whether it's acceptable to have section entitled "Criticism and 'cult' allegations". It's undisputed that notable cult allegations are being made and are they are the #1 criticism of the organization. However, one school of thought holds that referring to the "cult allegations" in the section titles is so prejudicial that we shouldn't cut it from the header. I say that if the allegations are notable enough to have section, they're notable enough to have a title that reflects their mention-- but there are some good editors who have made points in opposition.

A second question going on is whether the article complies with NPOV. Are the "criticisms" and the "support" section 'balanced', or are we giving undue weight to one side or the other. I think we're doing pretty good on that at the moment, but there are a lot of different ideas all over the spectrum on what those sections should look like, so anything you can do to help us strike the right balance and get to FAC would be much appreciated!

Thanks for all your advice and help. --Alecmconroy 20:04, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you

[edit] WikiBreak

Hey! I saw your message on the EA page. Sorry to hear that you caught the WikiFlu... hopefully it won't last long! Have a nice break; we look forward to seeing you back after your holiday, hopefully well recovered :-) — Editor at Large(speak) 07:42, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Terence, I'm sorry to hear that you've hit the wall. I hope that you enjoy your holiday, and return refreshed, and ready to continue contributing.
Remember that during the SGpedian meetup, we discussed the idea of a smaller gathering at the national library to find non-web references? On Google Talk, I raised this with Mailer Diablo. I told him that the proposed gathering will occur next weekend (9-10 December). Unfortunately, you will be in Japan until 12 December.
Therefore, on which date do you propose the gathering take place? How about the weekend after you return from Japan (16-17 December)? I hope that Mailer will not have entered NS by then. As we are all having school holidays, we should consider meeting on a weekday. I have not discussed this with Tdxiang yet, and intend to wait until I get a response from you before contacting him about the proposed gathering.
In your absence, I intend to help copy-edit Singapore general election, 2006 and improve it to GA status. Are there any sections I should focus on, or any quirks I should take note of?

[edit] Afd

Hello I would ask that you re-look over your status on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Metropolis (Japanese magazine). Its not up for deletion due to non-notability; but, do to the article is just one big advertisement. It dosen't have any inline citations and claims a whole bunch of things because its the only one in that category. --Simonkoldyk 17:28, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tuas Bus Terminal

Hi Terence. I was wondering if you could help out at Tuas Bus Terminal. I prod'd it as having no text/context. I could add something like "Tuas Bus Terminal is a bus terminal in Singapore", but that is hardly better than the way it is now. You're the only person I know who lives in Singapore, so I thought you might be able to help. (As a side note, I fail to see how an ordinary bus terminal is notable, but.. whatever.) --Fang Aili talk 22:36, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your thoughts. After I messaged you I figured I could bring it to the Singapore Wikiproject, which is probably what I'll do next. An IP removed the prod, so something more should be done. Thanks again, Fang Aili talk 14:52, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello there, my name is Peter M Dodge and I go by the handle Wizardry Dragon on Wikipedia. While I am not a member of the Mediation Committee proper I have offered to mediate this case. If this is okay with you, I would like to proceed. Please let me know either way, and if you have any issues with this please let me know so I may try to address them. [edit] Thank you for voting

Thank you for voting in my RfA which at 51/20/6 unfortunately did not achieve consensus. In closing the nomination, Essjay remarked that it was one of the better discussed RfAs seen recently and I would like to thank you and all others who chose to vote for making it as such. It was extremely humbling to see the large number of support votes, and the number of oppose votes and comments will help me to become stronger. I hope to run again for adminship soon. Thank you all once more. Wikiwoohoo 19:50, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Concordia Newsletter

NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

[edit] Help out now!

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

[edit] Decision Making

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.
