Terryville High School

This article is about Terryville High School located in historic Terryville, Connecticut. Terryville is part of the larger Plymouth, Connecticut. The village is named after Eli Terry, the world famous clockmaker. Among historically significant topics for mention, Terryville once was the home of Eagle Lock Company. Also, in the town is the Lock Museum, and Ted Knight, an award winning actor was born and raised in Terryville. The town once held a large eastern European and Canadian French population due to the industry that drew immigrants to the town to work and live.

[edit] Terryville High School's Mission

The mission of Terryville High School is to educate its students to reach their maximum potential in learning, social growth, and awareness of themselves in an ever-changing society. The school, in partnership with family and the community, promotes career planning, continuous education, vocational preparation, and leadership.

Terryville encourages students to cultivate these basic values: the qualities of self-discipline, self-respect, self-direction, and integrity; the belief in the individuality of each person, the importance of a critical and analytical approach to problem solving; the recognition that learning requires involvement based on mutual respect, obligations and goals; the stimulation of students intellectual curiosity; the encouragement from the past in order to prepare for highly complex and changing world community; and the nurturing of learning as a valuable lifelong process.

Terryville High School has a wide variety of sports the students can sign up for , if they have an up to date physical examination. There is baseball, softball, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys soccer, girls soccer, cross country, tennis, volleyball, track and field, golf, and wrestling.

The Terryville High School Drama Club has a long history of presenting plays. The current President and Director of The Drama Club is Connor Rhys McKenna and the play for 2006 is Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Work on the new High School in Terryville started on January 25, 2006. The new High School is on task and should be completed near the end of 2007. The School Building Committee Members are:
