Stanton was originally hired as the Spokesperson for the Michigan Department of Treasury under Republican Governor John Engler in 2001. Since Jennifer M. Granholm took office, Terry is now the Deputy Spokesperson for the Governor's Executive Office which is directed by Chief Spokesperson Liz Boyd. |
Terry Stanton was born on January 10, 1963 to Merle and Jean Stanton in Owosso, MI in Shiawassee County. Terry Stanton attended Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Broadcasting and Cinematic Arts. Stanton graduated from Central Michigan University in 1985. Stanton went to Corunna High School in Corunna, MI and graduated in 1981. Stanton was the News Director and anchor for WEYI-TV 25 in Flint, MI until 1995 when he was hired as a weekend news anchor for WTMJ-TV 4 in Milwaukee, WI. Stanton worked for Journal Broadcast Group, eventually being moved to the weeknight news desk, until his resignation and acceptance of another job in 1998. Stanton signed with WLNS-TV 6 in Lansing, MI. Terry was the host of the 5, 5:30 and 11 news casts. Stanton was released from WLNS-TV 6 and Young Broadcasting in 2001. Stanton was hired by Governor Engler in 2001 to serve as the Spokesperson for the Department of Treasury. Now under Governor Jennifer M. Granholm, Terry is the Deputy Spokesperson for the Governor's Office. Terry is married to one-time fellow news-anchor and current radio news anchor Jo Anne Paul, they have 3 children, Brent, Ryan and Christopher and live in Williamston, MI.
