Terrordrome

The Cobra Terrordrome (sometimes spelled Terror Drome) is basically the prefabricated fortress/headquarters for the Cobra Organization. With a need to gain a base of operations anywhere in the world, it is necessary for Cobra to have an easy-to-set-up structure and the Terrordrome answers that need. Each unit comes with a vehicle service and refueling bay, munitions depot, a prisoner containment chamber, tower-mounted cannons, and a launch silo for the Firebat interceptor mini-jet. The rounded form of its perimeters make it easy to defend against attacks.

In the cartoon series, the Terrordrome is portrayed as the premiere Cobra headquarters. Here, it is much larger in design and houses more troops, vehicles and equipment. The interior as seen in G.I. Joe: The Movie reveals it to be a much more complex structure than the toy design with the inclusion of a throne room and a maze of corridors.

In the comic series from Marvel Comics and written by Larry Hama, the Terrordrome is a product pushed by Cobra to its clients when the terrorist organization entered into the arms business. The Terrordromes are sold as fortresses and defensive bunkers to the country buying them. With prefabricated parts, each unit is easy to set up and offers the client a quick means to defend their territory against rebels and somesuch. However, running each unit requires Cobra's specialists and as part of the package, Cobra offers the client their troops, specialists and military advisors. With more Terrordromes sold, the more Cobra forces come in to the country and, eventually, Cobra ends up running the country. The Terrordrome is slightly larger in scale than the toy version but small enough that a countryside could be littered with a dozen or so of them.
