Terre Haute North (THN), or simply North, was founded in 1972. The school mascot is the Patriot and the school colors are red, white and blue. Approximately 2,000 students are currently enrolled at North, in grades 9-12. The teacher to student ratio is 1-18, and the average expenditure per student is $6,685.[1]

Terre Haute North is on a trimester schedule. Students have five seventy-mintue periods per day every day for twelve weeks. THN uses the Core 40 curriculum.

There are 21 varsity sports teams THN: boys' and girls' cross country, soccer, tennis, golf, basketball, swimming & diving and track & field; boys' football, wrestling, and baseball; and girls' cheerleading, gymnastics and softball. Terre Haute North has been part of the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference since 1996.
