Terje Søviknes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Terje Søviknes is a Norwegian politician who was the first representative of the Progress Party to become mayor of a Norwegian municipality, namely Os, Hordaland. He is especially known for his politics toward private businesses and care for senior citizens.
Søviknes was considered a possible successor to Carl I. Hagen as chairman of the party, but he became controversial after an incident at a party congress where he had committed adultery with a 16-year-old girl under the influence of alcohol. The expected successor as party chairman is now Siv Jensen. Søviknes is still mayor of Os and does not seem to have lost his local support after the incident.
