Teresa Keane

Teresa Catherine Keane (born February 21, 1953) is a Nurse Practitioner and Green Party activist who ran in the 2004 race for the United States Senate as a representative of the state of Oregon. Keane ran on a populist, anti-war, environmentalist platform, and gathered 2.4% of the votes. She received the highest percentage of votes of any Green Party Senate candidate in 2004.

Born in Berkeley, California, Keane graduated from the California State University system with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1991, and with a Master of Science in Nursing from the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) in 1994. A specialist in mental health studies, Keane is a member of the OHSU Schools of Nursing and Medicine faculty, and a member of the Oregon Nurses Association. In 2006 Keane was appointed to the Oregon Pain Commission to improve the lives of people in pain.

Keane is a single mother of two, both graduates of the University of Oregon.
