[edit] Character
Teresa is the cousin of Carmella (Natalie Blair) and Rosetta Cammeniti (Natalie Saleeba). She was introduced onto the show's canvas when, in 2006, Carmella revealed that she had sold her cousin's baby - a secret that had haunted her for months. Teresa, now institutionalised, told Carmella that she wanted her to get her daughter back by whatever means necessary. Carmella went to meet the baby's legal parents and Teresa was shattered when Carmella revealed to her that the infant had died three months ago because of a congenital heart defect, blaming Carmella for the child's death.
An increasingly psychotic Teresa befriended pregnant Sky Mangel (Stephanie McIntosh), with whom she shared a hospital room, and began asking questions about her baby. Teresa now appears to be obsessed with Sky and her baby and once turned the baby's father, Stingray Timmins (Ben Nicholas) against Sky. Sky is becoming more and more uncomfortable with Teresa's attention as Teresa is now referring to Sky's unborn child as "our baby".
When Sky fell into early labour, crazed Teresa lashed out at her, telling Sky she would be a horrible mother. When admitted into the psychiatric ward in Erinsborough Hospital, she managed to escape and ran to Ramsay Street (unbeknown to the staff). She changed into Carmella's hospital attendant uniform, but was confronted by Carmella as she tried to run back to Ramsay Street. She threw a saucer of boiling water at Carmella, and ran away. Carmella was found by her boyfriend, Will Griggs and taken to the hospital.
When Teresa arrived back at the hospital, she found a cigarette lighter. Scrunching up papers in someones office, she set fire to them, just as Sky's water broke. The fire spread across the west wing rapidly, but Sky gave birth just before the fire reached them. At that point, Janae Hoyland saw Stingray With the baby safe with nurses in an incubator, Sky, Dr. Karl Kennedy and Harold Bishop went to the east wing, where the fire would not spread. Unfortunately, when the trio arrived, the baby was nowhere to be seen, but the crib was in the room. Teresa was seen by Sky (while she was rushed to the east, who became panicked for her child's safety. Teresa disappeared from the scene, only to be discovered by Senior Sergeant Alan Steiger with an empty pram. Drunk Stingray is now the prime suspect of having the child, as he was found with little Kerry Mangel's baby-tag.
The real abductor of the child is in fact Dylan Timmins. While Stingray originally took Kerry, Dylan found the drunk father and the baby in bushes while he was seeing the commotion about the hospital fire.
