Teresa is a Mexican telenovela that aired on Televisa in 1989. The telenovela was starred by Salma Hayek (Frida) in the title role and showcased stars such as Gael García Bernal (Y tu mamá también), the diva Irma Dorantes, Mario Iván Martínez (Like Water for Chocolate) and the Spanish actor Daniel Giménez Cacho (Bad Education). The director of photography was Antonio Serrano (Sexo, pudor y lágrimas, Lucía, Lucía).

This telenovelas is a remake of the 1959 production of the same name starred by Maricruz Olivier. The Brazilian version of the same name was produced in 1965 and was starred by Georgia Comide. Another Mexican version is El cuarto mandamiento produced in 1967 and starred by Pituka de Foronda
