Bold textTHE BOX TURTLE IS THE BEST KIND OF TURTLE, FOR PETS, BUT THEY CAN NOT BE SOLD IN MANY STATES BECAUSE THEY CARRY DISEASES. THE BOX TURTLE HAS A GREENISH - YELLOW COLORED HEAD WITH YELLOW MARKINGS ON IT'S NECK. THE MALE BOX TURTLE HAS A LONGER TAIL THEN THE FEMALE BOX TURTLE.THE MALE ALSO HAS LONG NAILS THEN THE FEMALE BUT THE FEMALE HAS LONGER NAILS ON HER BACK FEET. THE NORMAL HEIGHT FOR THE ADULT BOX TURTLE IS ABOUT FOUR TO SIX INCHES IN LENGHTH. THEIR UPPER JAW IS SLIGHTLY HOOKED AND THEIR TOES ARE ONLY A LITTLE WEBBED. THEIR SHELLS ARE SO HARD A KNIFE BLADE CAN NOT GO THROUGH IT. A BABY BOX TURTLE GET'S TO BIGGER 1/2 TO 3/4 INCHES BIGGER A YEAR FOR ABOUT FIVE TO SIX YEARS. AT THE AGE OF TWENTY THEY GET TO BE THEIR NORMAL SIZE.
