Does this article belong in Wiktionary rather than Wikipedia? — Paul G 10:18, 14 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Either way, should almost certainly be changed to Term for homosexual, to avoid confusion between gay (happy) and gay (homosexual). I personally don't believe this article belongs in Wikipedia, and agree the Wiktionary would be better suited... Nick04 10:38, 14 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I think this page is not primarily about translation, as it's not simply about correspondence of words, for two reasons:

  • some translations are excluded from the list (that is, the ones which are derived from the words "gay" or "homosexual"),
  • the literal/original meaning of the terms is also given.

This would be unusual (even meaningless) for a dictionary or for Wiktionary. That's why I think this page should not be moved there. -- On the other hand, there are already several lists in Wikipedia where words are collected from a certain point of view, for example Lists of English words of international origin, so I don't think it would bother anyone. It could be one of those pages in Wikipedia which provide a bit of trivia, which can't really be put anywhere else, but still may be interesting for a couple of people. -- 195.56.90.136 11:57, 14 Jun 2004 (UTC)

This line has been left out from the chart, because of the above restriction:

|- align=center
| Dutch || homo || abbreviation of "homoseksueel" || neutral

They use it all the time in the American South, while fairy tends to be used in other places. 66.61.54.70 07:28, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Portuguese: list full of dubious words

Most of them I have never heard about. Some aren't even Portuguese. Some of the translations are wrong. I'm removing the ones that are clearly wrong. FilipeS 18:34, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
