I do not believe this should be deleted. It is a well-known shot and I personally am here because I wanted to read about it on wikipedia.--12.147.61.3 17:40, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Ryanp

Actually, I was going to propose it as a speedy deletion as vandalism - this is a tired and pointless joke that is best banished. I have removed the link from the Tequila page, which was equally as unfunny. - Corporal Tunnel 15:07, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

That's fine with me! I'll tag it. -- Merope 15:15, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

I happen to have done a tequila stuntman last night, and the salt grains embedded in my nose would argue that it is certainly no joke! In fact, I am glad that it shows up on Wikipedia (and many other sites... try googling it) so that my friends don't think I am crazy.129.105.205.142 15:32, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

I created this page and am confused to exactly why it should be removed. I can provide links to videos on YouTube, other websites discussing the shot, etc. If you could explain precisely why this page should be removed that would help me out a lot. Armitage Shanks 15:23, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

The link on the prod tag (Wikipedia is not a indiscriminate collection of information) should provide some information. Essentially, WP is not a place to house FAQs, how-to guides, or recipes. I make an excellent drink with vodka, pineapple juice, and grenadine, but I don't create a WP article for it. -- Merope 15:25, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
This is a joke drinking activity, made up by a single celebrity with a wide reputation for doing foolish and dangerous things, and occasionally - I stress occasionally - practiced, insofar as it is practiced at all, by a small number of people who should know better. Quite apart from the medical danger of placing acid in the eyes and salt on nasal tissue, it is certainly nasty at best. If there is any place that this belongs on Wikipedia it would be as a brief note in the pages for Jackass.

I'm put in mind of that mpg clip of the guy trying to ride his pickup truck from the outside, who predictably loses control and smashes into a tree. Dumb? Yes. Verifiable? Yes. From Jackass? Yes. Appropriate for a Wikipedia page? No. I also believe this falls far enough into hoax/joke territory to qualify as vandalism for deletion purposes. - Corporal Tunnel 15:38, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

This was not a stunt from Jackass and thus doesn't belong on the Jackass page. Medical danger? Should we remove Russian roulette or Seppuku because they discuss topics which are dangerous? As I note below, I can't imagine how this is as cut and dry as you're trying to make it out to be. Armitage Shanks 15:52, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes but there are WP entries for other shots. See for example Cocksucking Cowboy, Surfer on Acid, or Carrot Cake (cocktail). How is this article different? Armitage Shanks 15:29, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
I've prodded all of those articles, so now there is no difference. The only one that might warrant an entry is the CS Cowboy, since it is sold in kits in Australia. -- Merope 15:33, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Two questions. 1) Does that mean every link from [[1]] will be removed or ought to be? and 2) Since how tequila shots are taken is described on the Tequila entry, is this variation suitable for that page or will it be deleted from there too? Armitage Shanks 15:39, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Where do you draw the line? If there is a list of shots/shooters on the List of cocktails page, shouldn't WP be the place where each of these is defined and/or described in detail? Why should Carbomb (cocktail) have a page? Or Boilermaker (cocktail)? I can't imagine it is as easy as you're making it seem for where a line should be drawn. Armitage Shanks 15:49, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Furthermore, can you order your drink at a bar? I can ask for a Tequila stuntman at a bar and they know what to bring me. Armitage Shanks 15:29, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't go to bars. -- Merope 15:33, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
I do go to bars, and I know a lot of people who work in the trade. They bring you exactly what they would bring you for a normal shot of tequila, and what you do with it is your business. - Corporal Tunnel 15:41, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

I am a new user of Wikipedia, and I am interested in the discussion process and the mechanism for validating the information on the site. This page seems to be an interesting example of a conflict occuring between a "newpage patroller" and a user who has made a good faith attempt at creating a usable reference on a valid (albeit somewhat comical) topic. Furthermore, linking to "tequila stuntman" from "tequila" seems to be a useful link to make accessing relevant information possible. The immediate dismissal of this topic as a hoax worries me — is it really this easy for a member of the Wikipedia "police" to block an attempt at adding content to the site? If so, is there a system in place for reporting or commenting on the behavior of volunteers that patrol the site? Thanks in advance for your help. — Bohmus Cruncher 18:47, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
