Tenryū, Shizuoka

Tenryū (天竜市; -shi) is a city located in Shizuoka, Japan.
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 23,084 and a density of 127.08 persons per km². The total area is 181.65 km².
The city was founded on November 3, 1858.
There are two railway lines in the city, Enshū Railway Line and Tenryū Hamanako Railway Line.
Some area locals claim Tenryū to be the hottest place on the island of Honshū.
The city was amalgamated by the city of Hamamatsu on July 1, 2005.
