Tenderfoot (Boy Scouts of America)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tenderfoot is a rank attainable by a Scout in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), and ranks above Scout and below Second Class. It is technically the first Scout rank as Scout is not a rank. A Scout can work on the requirements for the Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks at the same time, but each must be earned in sequence. The Tenderfoot badge has a yellow fleur-de-lis, with a star on each of the two lateral points, an eagle on the center, and a shield on the eagle's chest colored somewhat like the American flag. The stars symbolize truth and knowledge; the eagle and shield symbolize freedom and readiness to defend that freedom. The badge is awarded when the Scout completes requirements in the areas of Scoutcraft, physical fitness, citizenship, personal growth and Scout Spirit.[1]
