Ten Threats

The ten threats identified by the High Level Threat Panel of the United Nations are:
- Poverty
- Infectious Disease
- Environmental degradation
- Inter-State War
- Civil war
- Genocide
- Other Atrocities (e.g. trade in women and children, or kidnapping for body parts)
- Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction
- Terrorism
- Transnational Organized Crime
According to a briefing on Open source intelligence in relation to these ten threats,
- 80-90% of the information needed to address these threats is not secret.
- The U.S. Government have focused people's mind almost only on the threats of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism, and little on the others.
- The US Government, however, has suspended to make its opinion clear whether US would go ahead with the UN's operation to eradicate Transnational Organized Crimes or not, because the US Government still could not have necessary remedies for the domestic obstacles.
