In the Mortal Kombat series, the Tekunin is a clan of cybernetic ninja started by Sektor.
[edit] About the Tekunin
In MK:Tournament Edition, which revolves around the same story as Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Sektor's ending depicted him founding a new ninja clan of cyber-ninja (the Tekunin) in Japan after Sub-Zero ousted him from the reformed Lin Kuei. Eventually, the Tekunin gained enough power to conquer Japan. In Mortal Kombat: Armageddon it is revealed that the tekunin were indeed formed by Sektor, though it is still unknown whether they conquered Japan.
[edit] Trivia
- The group's meaning could mean "iron ninja" or "tech ninja" because tek or teku could refer to "tekko" which means "iron" or the slang for tech and "nin" could be used as short for ninja. Either could fit.
- The rivalry between the Tekunin and the Lin Kuei is reminiscent of the rivalry between the old Lin Kuei and the Shirai Ryu, which had also been founded by a breakaway Lin Kuei member and was also based in Japan.
- The goals of Noob Saibot, also a former Lin Kuei member, and Sektor are similar: both want to create an army of cybernetic warriors to conquer the world. They both also have the common goal of killing Sub-Zero
- One of the new fighting arenas in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is the Tekunin Warship. This appears to be a remake of Mortal Kombat 4's Prison Stage.
- The Tekunin seem to be based around the idea of the old Lin Kuei's idea of automizing their members, this can be seen in Armeggedon's conquest mode where one Tekunin calls Sektor "Grandmaster Sektor".
- Sektor's Tournament Edition states he founded a secret base in Japan, so it is likly that the Tekunin's central base is in Japan.
