Tekax, sometimes spelled Tecax, is a small city in Yucatán state, Mexico, located at 20°20′N 89°28′W. Tekax (pronounced [ˌte ˈkaʃ]) means "Place of the Forests" in the Yucatec Maya language. Tekax was briefly declared the capital of Yucatan in 1845.

In 2003 Tecax had an estimated population of about 22,000. The majority of the population are Maya.
