Teen Guitar Sensation Matt Wood of The Nightingales (also known as Wunderkind Guitarist...' is the 17 year old guitarist for UK band The Nightingales.
He is notable for his unreasonable commitment to a harsh, treble-dominated guitar sound, and outlandish trousers.
His hobbies include eschewing hair gel and text messaging, and devoting his school years to learning the interlocking guitar structures of Captain Beefheart's Magic Band.
However, it can be argued that it is through regular appearances in the regular 'Popscene' feature on the MySpace page of the young Birmingham, UK band Poppy and the Jezebels that he has reached his largest audience.
At current he attends Thomas Telford School where he has been labeled "a gay" flaunter of "crap clothes" by a number of younger pupils. Derogatory remarks have also been made about such diverse subjects as his trousers, his love of Krautrock and Sun Ra and his trademark briefcase.

Hans Joachim Irmler, keyboardist with ledgendary Krautrock group Faust, claims TGSMWoTN to be 'his son'. He has also been mistaken as the son of Nightingales vocalist Robert Lloyd, on one occasion live on National Radio.
