The Technical University of Madrid (Spanish: Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM), is a Spanish university, located in Madrid. It was founded in 1971 as the result of merging the different Technical Schools of Engineering.

In Spain there are two kinds of technical studies: a 3 years Ingeniero Técnico or Arquitecto Técnico and a 5 years (previously 6 years) degree Ingeniero o Arquitecto. These degrees will disappear with the incoming Bologna process. Some of the degrees offered at the UPM are:

  • Aeronautics Engineering (Ingeniería Aeronáutica)

  • Chemical Engineering (Ingeniería Química)
  • Computer Science, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering and Information Systems (Ingeniería Informática)

  • Electronics, Information Technology and Telecommunications Engineering (Ingeniero de Telecomunicación)
  • Geology Engineering (Ingeniero Geólogo)
  • Industrial and Electrical Engineering (Ingeniería Industrial)
  • Forest Engineering (Ingeniería de Montes)
  • Mine Engineering (Ingeniería de Minas)
  • Naval Engineering (Ingeniería Naval)

UPM's Schools are spread all over Madrid, instead of being placed in an unified campus. Some of them are:
