The Tec de Monterrey School of Medicine, often referred to as "Escuela de Medicina Ignacio A. Santos" (EMIS) del Tecnologico de Monterrey, belongs to the Health Sciences Division (DCS in Spanish) of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies (ITESM), a prestigious private university located in Monterrey, Mexico. Tec de Monterrey School of Medicine was founded in 1978 in order to provide better medical education and training as well as to promote reliable biomedical investigation in Mexico with the support of the ITESM research infrastructure.


The Tec de Monterrey School of Medicine is home to about 504 M.D. students and to 105 postgraduate students. Apart from the M.D. program, the School of Medicine also offers a joint M.D.-Ph.D. program with Texas A&M Health Science Center, and other studies such as Bachelor in Nursery, Bachelor in Dietetics and a degree in Biomedical Engineering. The graduate department of the Tec de Monterrey School of Medicine offers to its students various medical specialties including general surgery, ophthalmology, psychiatry, anatomical pathology, internal medicine, anesthesiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, radiology and pediatrics. The department also offers a postgraduate program in medical sciences and biotechnology.
