From the plaque on the ground in front of the mural:
"El Mural de Rectoría de Monterrey es un alto relieve tallado en piedra y aderezado con mosaico; representa el triufo diario de la civilización y la cultura sobre las fuerzas oscuras del estancamiento y la apatía. Para ejemplificarlo, Jorge González Camarena eligió la lucha y vicotria de Quetzalcóatl sobre Tezcatlipoca."
Rough translation: "The mural of the rectory of Monterrey is a high relief carved in rock and adorned with mosaic; it represents the daily triumph of civilization and culture over the dark forces of stagnation and apathy. To illustrate this, Jorge González Camarena chose the battle and victory of Quetzalcóatl over Tezcatlipoca."
The mural measures 7 by 32.4 metres (23 by 106 feet).
