Team Ninja

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Team Ninja is a subsidiary of Tecmo, Ltd. lead by Tomonobu Itagaki. Team Ninja was founded in 1995 as a video game development studio. Officially, it is the team Itagaki created by bringing the most talented people at Tecmo together as "ninjas".

Although not one of the oldest developers (with their first game, Dead or Alive, hitting the U.S. shelves in 1998), Team Ninja is known as one of the most reputable game developers in the world. With an impressive resume of games including the Dead or Alive series and the Ninja Gaiden series, Team Ninja has become an incredible success for Tecmo.

Paving the way on the Playstation and Dreamcast, Team Ninja vowed to make every game more innovative and stunning than the last. They accomplished this every step of the way with creative game play and stunning graphics. Though lately Team Ninja has created games only for Microsoft consoles, They have recently announced that they are also in development of games for the Playstation 3(PS3), the Playstation Portable(PSP), and the Nintendo DS. The Dreamcast did not have many great games. But the Dead or Alive 2 game brought the popularity up. A section in Game Informer magazine featured older game systems that were saved by the popularity of exceptional games.

Currently Team Ninja is working on 4 upcoming games. Project Impact, a secret project which is rumored to be Ninja Gaiden 2, is planned for the Microsoft Xbox 360. Another mysterious title is currently in development for the Xbox 360 known as Project Progressive. Finally, 2 more unnamed projects are in the works, set to come out on the Sony Playstation Portable and the Nintendo DS.
