[edit] Censorship in China
Hi ! your bot reverted one of my edit, which was justified (i blanked a redirect which was wrong). 86.201.108.122 09:30, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] blank template usage?
Can TB2 identify edits which are purely page blankings (i.e, absolutely nothing replaced the old content), and use the blank template for this sort of page blanking? It would guide anons attempting to flag pages that are the speedyable as nonsense or blatant hoax but know nothing about CSD and whatnot yet. (See the "High Evif" sections just above this one for what I mean). 155.69.5.235 12:15, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

[1]. Keep up the good work. This is a very cool bot! --Ligulem 17:17, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm. I tried to split that edit in several separate edits, but no luck. Tawkerbot2 reverted me again. So, I can't do that to this article. Please do it for me or tell me when I'm allowed to do that edit :-). Is there some exception list to put my username on? I'm doing these kind of edits on a lot of articles... --Ligulem 22:19, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re-prod by Tawkerbot2
See this edit: [2]. Admittedly, the author was blanking the article, but in the process the author removed a prod tag, which tawkerbot2 re-added. Mangojuicetalk 18:47, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Yallaroi Shire, New South Wales
Wow, Tawkerbot's fast. I was making a redirect and absent-midedly left out the #REDIRECT before the link. Whitejay251 19:46, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Suggestion: days of year/vanity births
There are lots of cases of vanity additions to the Births section (eg [3]. A guideline is in place that only people with Wikipedia articles should have their dates of birth listed (the policing on new articles then covers things). Would it be possible to have Tawkerbot revert additions for people without articles (possibly only with recent dates - most of the vanity links I've seen are 1980s/90s)? Thanks, and keep up the good work! - Pseudomonas 23:38, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] odd false positive on Grunge music
Sumpin weird happened back on May 20; I only just noticed it. Some clown vandalized the article at 18:43 [4]; Tawkerbot noticed and reverted it that same minute [5]. The clown came back at 18:56 [6], but this time User:Jklin was quick to the draw and beat Tawkerbot to the reversion at 18:57 [7], whereupon Tawkerbot promptly reverted Jklin, restoring the vandalism [8]!! Fortunately User:LGagnon noticed and reverted it properly within the same minute [9]. Was this a race condition? If the human RC patrollers are as quick as this (not that I'm complaining!), how can we avoid such conflicts between them and Tawkerbot? –Steve Summit (talk) 15:48, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Hmm, this was a freak condition based on the nature of the articles content, I think some more checks are in order.... (in TB3 which will come out eventually) -- Tawker 18:45, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- Are you sure? That's what I thought at first, too, but note that the first time (at 18:43) Tawkerbot preferred the correct version and reverted the spam, but the second time, it preferred the spam and reverted the correct version. –Steve Summit (talk) 03:06, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

'm also known as User:Raintaster. On the page Stephen Hawking, some user didn't know the MOS rules and blanked otu the curse words. I tried to revert and was promptly reverted back by your bot.
Although I understand that using curse words is a telltale sign of vandalsim, it sin't banned on Wikipedia and you should probably not just revert all edits involving curses.
Anyway, good luck improving the bot.
- Restored the curse words. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 05:32, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Malfunction on Comparison of open source operating systems
65.94.59.238 (Talk) was trying to make a legitimate edit to the tables on Comparison of open source operating systems (history). Tawkerbot2 kept reverting this change by 65.94.59.238, until finally Balihb (the original creator and main contributor to the article) made the edit him/herself, which Tawkerbot2 did not revert. Anyways, please don't take the previous criticisms on this talk page by 65.94.59.238 too seriously, I'm sure he/she was just upset and unfamiliar with Wikipedian social policies. I also believe the block against 65.94.59.238 should be lifted, if it hasn't already, with a note to assume good faith. Armedblowfish 00:01, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

- Though it's hard to tell, given that the person seems to have a very dynamic IP address, all of the edits made by 65.94.59.238 up to the point where he/she became upset at you/your bot seem to have been good faith, legitimate edits. Don't get me wrong - I don't support the way he/she handled his/her frustration (not assuming good faith), but it doesn't look like the Wikipedia:Long term abuse/The Autofellatio Redirect Vandal to me, and it is my personal belief that he/she should be unblocked. I'm not sure if you want this conversation on my talk page or yours, so I'll try both I guess. Armedblowfish 00:33, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

- Note to 65.94.59.238/65.94.101.206/the other IPs you've been using: Please try to calm down, and assume good faith. Personal attacks will not resolve the situation. While Tawkerbot2 made a mistake in reverting your edits on Comparison of open source operating systems, Tawkerbot2 is generally very useful, and about 98% accurate, and all AIs have limitations. Perhaps you could try explaining the situation, instead of getting angry? Armedblowfish 01:23, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

- Such mistakes are not irreversible. For instance, you could leave a message on Tawkerbot2's talk page explaining the mistake. Then, Tawker could either remove the vandalism warnings from your talk page, or issue a formal apology on your talk page explaining that it was a mistake. (And maybe block Tawkerbot2 from editing Comparison of open source operating systems until whatever cause the malfunction is fixed, if Tawkerbot2's code allows that.) However, personal attacks are reason to block in and of themselves. Please try to calm down. Armedblowfish 01:53, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Call me a Luddite, but....
While for the moment this thing seems to be functioning pretty well, I just don't like the idea of auto-reversino based on content analysis (excepting blankings, which are extremely simple to accurately detect). This is not to say that it can't be done, or is completely out of the question (indeed, I don't exactly have the authority to make such rules anyway), but I don't feel entirely safe with entrusting content-removal decisions to a bot; in my opinion there should at least be a human who checks and confirms proposed reversions before they go through. - Mmm; going to be a tough one. The bot reverted two edits: [12] was a section blanking, not extremely differentiable from common vandalism; perhaps the edit summary can be taken into account. [13] was an accidental posting of two identical sections (the first paragraph differed a bit); I suppose the threshold for repetitions being considered vandalism could be raised to three or four. ~ PseudoSudo 18:49, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

It might not have been your intent, but you recently removed content from Meanings of asteroid names (56001-57000). The bot reverted Knockout_for_2006_FIFA_world_cup which I had taken away for a bit, as it was clearly a sandbox experiment done by the original creator. [edit] Revert of removal of article
I wrote the original stub for The Book of Tokens. Dollarback suggested that the quotations from the book constituted copyright violation. I disagree. I believe they're fair use examples not disimilar from dozens of other articles about Poets or their Poetry. However, to get the ugly Copyright template removed, I moved the contents into a User Page for later editing and blanked the article. My understanding is that the original author can blank a page if no one else has made further contributions. If you check the history that's pretty much the case. But Tawkerbot2 reverted the blanking. So how do I speedy delete the article? The copyvio template says it should have already been deleted, since Dollarback registered his complaint back on 5/12. If you can provide guidance on how to proceed, I'll be most grateful. --Jason Richards 15:47, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey Tawker, I figured I'd post this on Tawkerbot2's talk page so I don't clutter up yours. I don't know how much extra code it would require, but I was curious if instead of simply using vandal on TB2's AIV page, would it be possible to use ipvandal for IP addresses and vandal for logged-in users? For the IP address users, this creates an easy link to WHOIS and eliminates the unnecessary move log, etc. Anyway, just a thought. Keep up the good work. [edit] neurofunk
hello, i´m the main - and only writer - of the article "neurofunk". since im constantly progressing with further info on this article, i´have been editing a lot recently. suddenly, i was cut-off and the article complety vanished perhaps due to suspicion of vandalism. Would like to know what the main problem is since there´s no vandalism from my end and since it´s very well written with accurate information. Would like to know more details about publishing or will this be a public domain article?? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Innerfunktion (talk • contribs).

I'm Boundlessly.
I wrote an article on "non-recourse debt." Then I found that there was a (lesser!) article on "nonrecourse debt." So I combined the two under "nonrecourse debt," and tried to change "non-recourse debt" to be just "see nonrecourse debt" The bot got me.

I doubt there is any way to change the bot that wouldn't let vandals disguise blanking as copyvio removal, but I did remove almost the entire article because it was cut and pasted from two different websites (copyvio), which I noted in the edit summaries. [edit] tawkerbot2 mistake
Hi. Your bot reverted a legitimate addition to the List_of_IDM_artists page. The addition was a band named Holy Fuck. I assume that set off vandalism flags, but it's a real band with a real wikipedia page and should probably be on that list. I saw the tawkerbot message on this user page and figured I should mention it. If you could do the necessary adjustments, I'll add the band back to the list. Thank you. [edit] Virginia miller/Temp
Hiya. Here is an interesting situation. The article Virginia miller was marked as a copyvio since the writer has not asserted that s/he has the rights to it (even then, based on how it reads now, it would get deleted anyway). When the notice was put up, the creator just cut and pasted the copyvio into the temp page. I tried blanking it, since I don't know of any deletion procedure for such a case, but Tawkerbot2 reverted my edits. How would you handle this? Gershwinrb 21:11, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Not fully warning/reporting too early
I just removed 86.16.157.193 (talk • contribs • logs • block user • block log) from the TB2 AIV page, without blocking. It had received no warnings at all (red linked talk page), had only vandalised 3 times (not 4, and not even all those 3 had been reverted by TB). Looking at the history it seems like a few reports before that one had been removed without blocking for similar reason. Please could you take a look at this and see if there is a bug in TB or something. Cheers, Petros471 17:50, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] inhunt.com
Hey. There is currently a problem on the Emoticon and Smiley pages, where a commercial link was being continually added by multiple anonymous added IPs. I lack more advanced knowledge of computers or the internet, so when i created an abuse report (seen here), I asked for a user that was more knowledgeable to take a look and provide an additional summary. DavidHOzAu did that, and his sypnosis was that this vandalism was spamdexing, and he suggested that "inhunt.com" be added to your list of words that need reverting. So my question to you is, is that possible? If it is, that would be great. Obviously, this should work, and it would probably save the Investigator and Contractor teams alot of trouble. Thanks --Reaper X 20:08, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- It would probably be better to add it to the spam blacklist, as there isn't really a list of words that he automatically reverts (which would be impossible because of articles like fuck), just some that he reverts if it's too big of a percentage of the edit or something (don't really remember, haven't been on the dev wiki in over a month because I forgot the URL :o) --Rory096 20:53, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Birch reduction
Dear bot owner, the edit I was making was not vandalism, the birch reduction was being moved to a page where the reagent responsible for the reduction is discussed.Cadmium
- Yep, that's the one problem with the bot- when a #REDIRECT is messed up, it doesn't recognize it as redirecting, and so reverts it as a blanking and addition of 9 characters. --Rory096 21:53, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

- Yeah, what happened is you blanked (removed all of the content) of the page, normally if we have duplicate content we redirect it with #REDIRECT New Page Name - blanking pages confuses users and hence the bot auto reverts. [edit] Training Day
I can understand how your bot could pick up my editing of the article on Training Day as vandalism, but it was not done with that intention. As I read the article, I noticed many errors. One example is when an author was trying to express that Alonzo forced Jake to smoke PCP and he or she, trying to provide a link to the article on the drug PCP, wrote [[Phencyclidine(PCP]. While it got the point accross it looked sloppy, as no link appeared because he or she did not finish the double brackets and it appeared just as I wrote it in this message. I changed it to PCP inside two brackets to make it look neater. After fixing other minor errors along the article, I noticed shit was spelled sh--. I changed it to shit, but not on any immature grounds, I did it to enhance the coherence of the article because I thought sh-- looked a little awkward and out of place on the page. I am sorry if I led you to believe I was vandalizing the greatest site in the world, a site whose independent, informative content I am commited to upholding to provide readily available information to people around the world. You may think the site is better if obscene words are edited and I totally respect that. I am not trying to keep you from changing the article to your preferences, I am just informing you of the reason I changed the article and I assure you that I had not intentions of vandalizing this glorious site that has helped me on so many research projects. Thank you for taking the time to read this note. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.235.79.62 (talk • contribs) 02:45, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mistaken revert (But no problem)
Howdy. Thanks for the very fine work by Tawkerbot2. I recently wound up in your 0.1% (or 2.3%) of inappropriate reverts.
In case you're interested --
- Was merging Ben J. Wattenberg and Ben Wattenberg, and swapping the text from one to the other.
- Replaced the "disappearing" text with a one-line notice of merging, preparatory to pasting in the replacement text.
- Tawkerbot2 stomped this as apparent vandalism.
- I proceeded to make the text swap and merge with no further difficulties.
- User 75.2.8.207 also jumped in with an assist, to explain that Tawkerbot2 had goofed.
So, no harm -- this is all just FYI if you're interested. I don't see how you could prevent this kind of legitimate mis-interpretation by Tawkerbot2, but of course you're a lot smarter about this than I am! -- Thanks -- 201.78.233.162 17:39, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bad revert - Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2
This entire article was copied from http://dpinterface.com/reviews/sony-cybershot-h2/index.html
- Thanks, I'll look that up -- Drini 19:07, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Missed one
Tawkerbot2 usually does a good job. On Pakistani, it missed one vandal, then kept reverting the second vandal back to the first one. Just thought I'd let you know. Thanks. --Scott Davis Talk 23:05, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] PLEASE LEAVE "THE BAR" ALONE
Hi, I worked a great deal on "THE BAR" page it is not vandalism so please do not erase anything on the page

[edit] To Tawkerbot2
You did a vandalism to Larry the Cable Guy? Aren't you an anti-vandalism thing? I think Larry's cool but your edit seemed, childish. Well, anyway. Oh, and thanks! It was because of you that I could do my first revertion of a vandalism. 66.218.22.93 05:22, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, this is the anti vandal bot, I guess it made a mistake -- Tawker 17:12, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] edit to Saddam Hussein
i made an edit to Saddam Hussein and said "we all want him to die, so he will" well we do right? it will just boost our morales and give us faith that people like Saddam and terrorists are being killed!
- Umm, it still doesn't quite fit in an encyclopedia article. We want to keep a NPOV in articles, your comment would induce a bit of a bias -- Tawker 17:09, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dude
Just wanted to say nice bot. I know I'm on the bottom of a page of corrections and complaints but as a recent changes patroller, the only problem I've found is that it beats me to the vandals, so kudos. Anand 17:17, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Chudaina
I removed the lyrics (copyright 1974)from this article, but you rv, any reason? did I do wrong? Thanks for your reply. --Richhoncho 21:53, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Tawkerbot2 not warning anymore?
This edit and this one were reverts by the bot, but I had to warn the user manually. And he ended up thinking it was something that was automatically rolled back. What gives? Kimchi.sg 11:05, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- Interface change broke the autowarn system, a new interface is on the way but it doesn't quite happen overnight. It'll be fixed soon -- Tawker 14:50, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
This is fixed now. joshbuddy, talk 02:33, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fix your bot's messages
Tawker, Tawkerbot2 recently reverted an edit of mine. I was simply removing a bunch of anon's discussion-like posts on the Category's page when it should have been on the Talk page. I understand how it must have looked like vandalism, blanking a page and all, so I'll leave it to you to re-fix it.
Aside from that, the immediate response left on my talk page had a few critical errors in it. First off, whenever you link to a category, you must preface it with a colon: :Category:Confused Editors -> Category:Confused Editors. Otherwise the link does not show up and instead places the page into that category: ->. As you can see, you can not see it. There are two such links in this bot's message. The second error was in the link to the reverted edit. Your bot created the link: who play left-handed&diff=60104766&oldid=59849498 diff. Now, obviously this link is incorrect. An external link ends its URL at the first space. You need to replace these spaces with either an underscore "_" (diff) or with "%20" (diff). I hope you fix this soon as your bot places this on many pages by default. Thank you. --68.157.38.165 02:54, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Feature
Would it be possible to have Tawkerbot2 automatically rv any edit with muiltiple exclaimation marks in a row as it is highly unkikly that an article would ever have it... just an idea. American Patriot 1776 02:58, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- Already does it :) -- Tawker 02:59, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help with Wikipedia 1.0 releases?
Hi, I'm involved with the Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team, and we are planning a release of Wikipedia:Version 0.5 in the autumn with other versions to follow. We would like to have a check for inappropriate language and the like BEFORE we produce 100,000 CDs or whatever, and I wondered if Tawkerbot would be able to do this for us. I presume that Tawkerbot2 has a much larger vocabulary than me of bad words! I think it need only be done once, at the point where we are doing the final editing of articles before going to press. Would this be possible? Thanks, Walkerma 03:59, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Mistaken revert on The Life and Times of Juniper Lee.
For the The Life and Times of Juniper Lee it keeps on reverting the spelling corrections I make. --SonicBlue 02:56, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- User made some spelling changes, then blanked the entire article. Bot triggered on the blanking, and reverted them all. Legitimate revert by the bot, given the blanking. - TexasAndroid 13:08, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Randy Orton's page
Just to let you know that I was not vandelizing Randy Orton's page and was just adding new information. Thanks... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Just-A-Boy (talk • contribs).
- User blanked the page, which is what triggered the bot. Valid revert. - TexasAndroid 13:04, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
I removed some incorrect information from one of the sections (machine pistols and submachine guns were referred to as the same thing, they are not - see their respective pages if you're curious) and the bot reverted it. Please correct this. :) 59.167.171.250 16:21, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] reverts outside the article namespace
I've noticed that the bots have started to revert edits outside the article namespace again. Is this supposed to be part of the routine procedure now? If so, we should probably update Tawkerbot2's user page to reflect this change. Otherwise, some administrators might mistake these edits as a result of malfunctioning and end up blocking the bots. --Ixfd64 18:21, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Moving Hegemonia
I am unable to move the page Hegemonia:_Legions_of_Iron to Haegemonia:_Legions_of_Iron because this bot is reverting it, how can this be done? Hegemonia is a mispelling and can even be seen by how Haegemonia is spelt in the article itself.Ragzouken 17:05, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Tom Umberg
Yes, I have a complaint. I edited the "Tom Umberg" article to provide legitimate, current information. I am very offended that it would be considered vandalism, I would like my changes to be made effective immediately! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.181.89.228 (talk • contribs).
- Umm, it kind of looks like POV pushing to me -- Tawker 02:05, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

- I've reverted the bot's edit, but I've also added the POV check tag. The user's edit might have been indeed POV, but it certainly didn't look like vandalism to me. --Ixfd64 17:12, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, something in there caught the reduction with swearing, not sure exactly what -- Tawker 17:57, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
