Who is William Mauco Here is an article about a Wikipedia celebrity, William Mauco, and his relations with the International Council for Democratic Institutions and State Sovereignty (ICDISS), an organisation "which seems to be a front organisation for a Kremlin-backed rogue statelet called Transdniestria" (quote from the article) http://0.bypass-filter.com/index.php?q=aHR0cDovL2Vkd2FyZGx1Y2FzLmJsb2dzcG90LmNvbS8yMDA2LzA4L2dvdGNoYS0yLmh0bWw%3D
Edward Lucas wrote about Mauco: "The other lead is William Mauco. He has an extensive record of posting intelligent and fairly neutral entries on Wikipedia, not only about TD but about other unrecognised statelets. Crucially, these predate ICDISS's birthday of January 2006. And he also claims to have been at their conference in Mexico City in April of this year. I have written to him asking to get in touch, and had a friendly email in reply. I am planning to follow up this research in an article in European Voice at the end of August, so watch this space!"--MariusM 08:36, 16 September 2006 (UTC)How to write a great article

[edit] Helloooo!
Hi Tavilis, compliments on uploading some drug structural formulas. I've been doing a lot of those over the last few months, and this really helps. Please join Wikipedia:WikiProject Drugs, where we do pharmacology.
Btw, could you use template:drugbox? By inserting {{subst:drugbox}} at the top of an article and saving the edit, a pre-filled box is inserted. You can then complete the necessary data in a second edit. For the ATC codes, Whatlinkshere is useful, as the whole list of ATC codes is available on Wikipedia. CAS numbers come from the CAS site at NCBI (link in the CAS article). Thanks! JFW | T@lk 23:16, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Timişoara
Salut Tavilis! I noticed that you updated the population figures over at Timişoara. Where did you get the 2004 population figure from? (it seems to be too low...) And anyway, it would be good to leave the census data (and remove the 2000 population figure) because the census is until now the most exact figure we have. But, thanks for editing the article anyway. As a side note, I must say I appreciate your articles on optical illusions - they were great to look at! The Zollner illusion in particular is quite intriguing! Ronline 12:56, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- Salut! Ronline 07:50, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Jodie Foster art.
Mr. Tavilis- I really believe your deletion of the Advertising section is unfair and arbitrary. Please reconsider. Also I posted some comments on the Foster talk page responding to your points. Good day. 66.248.123.149 21:47, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for the support
I appreciate the message of support regarding the Jodie Foster issue, and have called for a vote on the talk page per your suggestions. Hopefully we can get enough people to vote on the issue that it'll be put to rest! Thanks again, and all the best. --PatadyBag 18:15, 28 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Images
Thanks for uploading Image:Zollner2.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images (on my talk page) and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, BrokenSegue 20:07, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
- Hmmm, sorry for taking so long to get back to you on this. That web page is in French (a language I don't speak). I think the text at the bottom of this page proves that this page is indeed copyrighted. I'm going to actively seek out/make a non-copyrighted version, so that we don't have to claim fairuse. This link is Broken 20:00, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
- The same goes for Image:Illusion4.gif. It's tagged {{no source}} and could be deleted starting 7 days from now if you don't tag it. Superm401 | Talk 03:20, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Marcel Iureş
While information, such as the films in which someone has acted, cannot be copyrighted, its presentation can be. Your recent addition at Marcel Iureş was so obviously a cut-and-paste from IMDB (their format is instantly recognizable) that it could raise copyright issues. I'll clean it up in that particular case, but please be more careful about this in the future, and if you've done this a lot, you might want to go back and do the cleanup on the others yourself. -- Jmabel | Talk 03:16, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The Voyage of the Space Beagle
Hi Tavilis, thanks for the edit on SB - a nice contribution. BTW, and somewhat IMHO, it isn't necessary to quote so many terms (e.g. "Ixtl" and "Anubis").
I think it's best to save quotations for titles, quotes (natch) and terms referred to directly as definitions (e.g. I think quotes are acceptable in your phrase: bird like aliens, called "Riim").
Anyway, wikipedia's default style for quoted terms is innocuous enough for it to be a non-issue, but, for what it's worth, I thought I'd pass on the observation.

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Irbesartan.gif
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Irbesartan.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.Rossrs 10:12, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ChemDraw images
Hi Tavilis, not sure if you've already figured out your own method, but the process I use for preparing structural images is to create the sketch in ChemDraw, copy and paste into Macromedia Fireworks, then resize the image (bicubic resample) to a more manageable size to upload. I'm sure it'd work with any other graphics package too – I use Fireworks out of habit. Cheers. -Techelf 06:52, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
