Tavanur

Tavanur is a small village on the southern bank of Bharathapuzha, the longest river of Kerala in the Malappuram District of Kerala state in India. Tavanur village lies 8 kilometres west of Kuttippuram Railway Station and 12 kilometres north of Ponnani. Kelappaji College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology campus is located in Tavanur village on the southern bank of Bharathapuzha.
There are several Mosques and temples in Tavanur. Important temples are the famous Siva and Brahma temples on the bank of Bharatapuza and Vasudevapuram temple in the KCAET campus.
Etymology: Tavanur = Thaapasanoor = Thaapasan + Oor = Place of Hindu Sanyasis
