Talk:Tauren

Is Tauren plural or singular? One Tauren? Twelve Taurens? Bastie 02:05, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
'Tauren' is both single and plural. 'Taurens' is incorrect.
It's like with sheep ( no relationship to the nature of the race ) 1 sheep , 2 sheep
Trivia: In World of Warcraft when male Tauren joke they say "Homogenised? No, I like the ladys!" (may have misquoted)
Is Tauren a proper noun? Here and at the WoWWiki page, there seems to be no clear answer as "Tauren" and "tauren" are used interchangeably...

I deleted a section on "controversy over allegience", because it's full of weasel words and gives absolutely no references or anything. In fact, the very "controversy" is explained in World of Warcraft, in that some Tauren (specifically, mostly tauren druids) ally themselves with the Cenarion Circle. The other Tauren don't particularly care about the Night Elves. Although they have similar beliefs, Night Elves worship Elune, and Tauren worship the Earthmother. They're totally different.
What's more, the average Tauren probably would feel more indebted to the orcs and their Horde, since they saved the Tauren from the Centaur. They feel the same way about the Trolls, and while they dislike the undead, gave the Forsaken a place to stay in Spirit Rise in Thunder Bluff - the Pools of Vision. This is in contrast to the Alliance races, the dwarves who disrespect the Earth Mother by mining and digging for archaeology, the Humans, who de-forest, mine, etc, as much as the orcs but worship The Light, and have no concept of Shamanisicm, the gnomes who they find to be too "magical", much like the high elves, and the Night Elves, who I talked about earlier. There is no "controversy", it's one Ally who thinks he has a valid point.
[edit] Clarification
Can someone who is familiar with the WC backstory explain this passage to me?
"In Thrall, Cairne sensed a great ally and leader, and sought his alliance in fighting off their ancestral enemy."
What is this enemy? Is it the trolls' enemy? Or is it the Tauren's? Both? Blast 11.20.06 2308 (UTC -5)
