Tassels in the Air

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tassels in the Air is a 1938 short-subject comedy film starring the Three Stooges (Moe, Larry, and Curly). It was directed by Charley Chase and written by Al Giebler and Elwood Ullman. The short co-stars prolific Hollywood extra Bess Flowers as 'Mrs. Smirch,' as well as Stooge regulars Bud Jamison (as 'Mr. Smirch'), Symona Boniface (as a guest at Mrs. Smirch's card party), and Vernon Dent (as a building superintendent).

Moe, Larry, and Curly are inept janitors who stencil the wrong occupation names on the doors of their office building. Mrs. Smirch, who shows up to find Omay, a famous interior decorator, gets lost because Omay's door has been labeled 'maintenance room.' She then mistakes Moe (whose name in Pig Latin is 'Oe-may') for the real Omay. Curly also has a bad habit of freaking out whenever he sees tassels; when Mrs. Smirch's tassels make Curly go berserk, Moe and Larry calm him down by stroking his chin with a paintbrush.

Mrs. Smirch hires the Stooges to redecorate her house during her bridge game. They wind up ruining her antique table and destroy almost everything else in the house. More trouble follows when the real Omay shows up.
