Tasmanian Government Railways
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tasmanian Government Railways were absorbed into the Australian National Railways Commission, established by the Whitlam Government in 1975, along with the former Commonwealth Railways, the non-urban railways of South Australia. The former Tasmanian Government Railways, now renamed TasRail, were sold to the Australian Transport Network Limited, a partnership of Tranz Rail and Wisconsin Central Railway, when the Australian National Railways Commission was broken up in November 1997. Australian Transport Network was acquired by Pacific National in 2004.

[edit] The TGR's Motive Power
The TGR had a vast range of motive power and rollingstock, including Steam locos, Diesel locos and Steam and Diesel powered railcars. The following is a list of Motive power used by the TGR.
