Tarbiat Moaalem University is a major Iranian university in Tehran, Iran. It is a teacher training higher institute of education.
Established in 1919 as The Tehran Central Teachers Institute, it changed its name to The Higher Institute for Tarbiat Moaalem in 1928 and then chang it to "kharazmi" in 2000, and gained Collegiate status by 1962.
The university today is one of the largest universities in the city, and has a second campus located in Hesarak near Karaj, inaugurated in 1986. There are also similar "Tarbiat Moallem" teacher training institutes scattered throughout the country as well.
