The Tarawera Falls are located in the Bay of Plenty region in the North Island of New Zealand.

The Tarawera Falls are part of the Tarawera River which flows from Lake Tarawera.

Access is from the township of Kawerau and is a drive of about 45 minutes over unsealed roads. There is then a walk of about twenty minutes to the falls.

The waterfall emerges part way from the rock face as the river is running underground for a distance before emerging as these falls.
