[edit] Thanks

Arr. Thanks a lot for the welcome. :) I've been on wikipedia for a while now as a lurker, but only recently started editing. (forgot to signiture) Pauric 03:44, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Same as above. (Or below. Whatever.) Except not the lurker part. =] Mandywang 16:58, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for reverting vandalism on Online poker== ==Vandal tags

Thank you for reverting vandalism on Wikipedia!

Be sure to put warning tags on the vandal's user talk page (such as {{subst:test}}, {{subst:test2}}, {{subst:test3}}, {{subst:test4}}). Add each of these tags on the vandal's talk page, in sequential order, after each instance of vandalism. Adding warnings to the talk page assists administrators in determining whether or not the user should be blocked. If the user continues to vandalize pages after you add the {{subst:test4}} tag, request administrator assistance at Request for Intervention. Again, thank you for helping to make Wikipedia better. Eagle talk 03:41, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks For Welcome

I use wikipedia all the time and got tired of vandalism. Freind told me how to revert. Glad to be apart of this.

[edit] Phyllis Jackson

For the Roberts et al paper, I looked for Jackson's name in the references (it's not there) and the acknowls (not there) and then just ran a text search for the string "Jac" in the entire paper (nothing), for the two Foot papers I just ran the text search, and a quick glance over the References... nothing there. As a scientist doing research into finger and toe length variation, I had hoped to be able to find something useful in all this "Celtic Toe" bruhaha, but it seems to be just a big waste of my time (and perhaps a bit of shame for Wikipedia a source). Pete.Hurd 23:34, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, thanks for your research, Pete! It's been interesting watching this whole thing go on while I've been stuck at home sick. Sorry it seems to have been a waste of your time. - Tapir Terrific 23:40, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 230

Regarding "230" in Automatic number plate recognition:

Wikipedia has no preference over which dialect to use, but it should be consistent within an article. The ANPR article is in British English, so the latter is correct. Hope that helps. violet/riga (t) 21:53, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I had no idea that was the case. I once had a math teacher who was a stickler for and, so it was drilled into my head to take the "and" out. Thanks for letting me know that that's not the case everywhere! - Tapir Terrific 22:00, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for reverting my user page from vandalism. The vandal seems to be upset because he blanked out part of Adolf Hitler and I reverted him. It's just lovely being on CVU on days like this, isn't it? ;-) Thanks again - Baseball,Baby! take a swing 17:09, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

You bet, no problem! - Tapir Terrific 17:24, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] T.I.

Can you protect T.I.'s page from all this vandelizim? 68.154.15.86 21:10, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

I got your message, but I don't actually know how to protect pages. You might want to take a look here for more information. Sorry I can't be of much help! - Tapir Terrific 21:23, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank You

Thank you for the kind words. I know that he is deliberately attempting to goad me into doing something dumb. Based on the fact that he has been threatening it for days, I have already compiled a list of his more egregious offenses if this goes to arbitration. Thank you again for your kindness. IrishGuy talk 08:20, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Wow...ok...apparently, he got blocked. Indefinitely. I have been away for the past few hours. Do you know if he attempted to take this to arbitration? IrishGuy talk 08:23, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Yikes. Well, I can't say I'll miss the surreal rants and accusations. I don't see any attempt on his part to take the matter to arbitration. My guess is that someone who was patrolling the recent changes noticed him making edits every couple of minutes, took a look at the stuff he'd been writing, and decided it was time for a block. Hopefully he'll find something more productive to do with his time. Anyway, as the tapir that I am, I salute you with my snout for managing to keep your cool through through this very strange process. —Tapir Terrific 15:18, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for handling the vandalism on my userpage. I didn't even realize anything had happened until much later. AMHR285(talk) 15:39, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

No problem! —Tapir Terrific 16:06, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Polk Audio

Just FYI: I think you were correct to revert the addition of the cute little Polk Audio story from the loudspeaker article, but I think your fingers might have gotten ahead of you when you tagged it "rvv" in the edit summary. It sounds to me more like someone promoting Polk Audio than a run-of-the-mill Wikivandal, and they probably should just have been steered over to the Polk Audio article.

Atlant 19:31, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Ah, good catch. I saw the "Ȳ" that was added to the end of the word "was," assumed it was nonsense vandalism, and didn't look closely at the other part of the edit. Checking that ISP's other edit, they're skirting the POV line in their enthusiasm for Polk Audio, but I should have been more careful in my revert and summary. I left the editor a message here. Thanks for pointing that out to me! -Tapir Terrific 19:42, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the Welcome!

Thank you, been exploring around wikipedia lately and learning how to use it and edit. Thanks for helping. :D

[edit] Gone

Kasi is gone now, was nonsense. -- Kim van der Linde at venus 05:01, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Subst:'ing

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. — FireFox 10:29, 09 July '06

Also, can you be a bit more careful when welcoming users, like this case? Thanks, — FireFox 10:32, 09 July '06
Thanks, no problem. — FireFox 19:19, 09 July '06

[edit] Thank you!

I just wanted to thank you for repeatedly reverting vandalism to my talk page. --NMChico24 11:54, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the welcome

Thank you for the welcome. I am planning to start my contributions gently by filling in some red links for science fiction books I have in my library. Kyrian 23:02, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the comment

Thanks for the comment, but I'm not that new to Wikipedia, I lurk more than anything else. MirageAtoli 00:04, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Revert

Thanks :-) You're quite awesome. Sasquatch t|c 22:47, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] No problem

Thank you for your prompt action anyway, my friend. I am new in wikipedia and just making some tests. I had "copy-paste" my contribution in my user page but now I decided to erase it. See you around

[edit] Britton LaRoche

Yeah. He came back...again. The first sockpuppet EnglishStone got blocked almost immediately. This new one was confirmed by checkuser, but he isn't blocked. I'm not sure why. IrishGuy talk 01:00, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for reverting that vandal. That was the first time that someone vandalized my page. Hurricanehink (talk) 02:46, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting the vandal on my page, too. That wasn't my first vandal. --rogerd 03:43, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My user page

Thanks! --Llort 17:01, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Big Thanks

Thank you for reverting the vandals work. I have a good idea who the culprit is. It seems this stems from a reverting war that over at the Warren Kinsella page. Please be advised random IP's based in Ottawa seem to revert my most recent work out of malice. Pete Peters 17:56, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank You!

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
Thank for for reverting vandalism on numerous user pages, and most lately mine. I award you the RickK Anti-vandalism Barnstar in recognition of your sterling and continual efforts - it is most appreciated! With Best Regards, - Trident13 18:32, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] thank you

Thanks for removing "a large red feather-duster" with "is black" in the bongo section of wikipedia. Originally I thought you were the one who wrote but you didn't. Sorry if I thought that about you. Thanks.

[edit] Pete Peters

Somebody's persistent --David.Mestel 20:31, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

God knows. At least he's blocked now. --David.Mestel 20:36, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] If you want to know what it up

This all stems from an argument we had on the Warren Kinsella entry. The worst is when my work get reverted by him just to tick me off. Loook at the Tony Ianno entry for a start. Pete Peters 20:45, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yup, another Thank you.

I noticed your reply to my post on WP:Bite. Thank you for responding and refreshing my faith in admins here. From what I read above you really seem like the cream of the crop.

The only reason I wrote the article was because there is an empty link to Sebau from Apep near the bottom and I'm familiar with the quotes concerning the myth from the Egytian Book of the Dead. I didn't put down any opinions, it wasn't vanity, I cited and quoted my sources. I was just a little shocked that it was suddenly gone.

I hate to just edit out a link when obviously someone put it in, maybe to get further knowledge on the subject.

Should I put in a justification on why I put in the article?

Thank you again. --Trey Nitrotoluene 01:15, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

Thanks for my first barnstar! I'm honored. =) -- Gogo Dodo 05:15, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Donkey vandalism

I have blocked the donkey vandaliser for an hour (School ip), let me know if they return. -- Kim van der Linde at venus 16:43, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Quick work - Thanks!

Thanks for reverting 200.45.6.131's vandalism - guess I made him mad, fun huh? :-) Vsmith 19:20, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes, very fun. Do you like it? --200.82.18.187 19:33, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hoaxer

Check out the contributions I linked in the edit summary adding that tag. The most egregious one (Senate Document No. 43) has been deleted (See Whatlinkshere for the AfD page). His edits to both were wildly far off, tax protestorial conspiracy nonsense. In the case of No. 43, he made it up out of thin air. Also, check his edit(s) to driver's licence where he added out of context quotations to attempt to insinuate something wholly out of place. Most of his not yet deleted contributions show a strong belief in extreme fringe theories, which experience has shown he's not hesitant to claim as fact. Anyway, I ran across him on those two after he'd linked them from state of emergency, ended up with me tagging him as a hoaxer. 68.39.174.238 03:26, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you

Thank you for the advice you gave to 67.187.180.63. Much appreciated after receiving a brazen accusation. -- Dcflyer 05:07, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
