Tao Li (born 10 January 1990 in Hubei, China) is a competitive swimmer with Singaporean citizenship since 2005 after she moved to the country in 2002.[1][2]
Apart from having represented the Republic at the SEA Games and Asian Games, Tao, a Singapore Sports School student, currently holds several national records. She took part in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. In between those competitions she won four gold and a bronze medal at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games held in the Philippines. In December 2006, Tao won a gold medal at the 50m butterfly in Doha's 2006 Asian Games, beating China's multi-gold medallist Xu Yanwei and breaking her own national record in the process.[3] She also won a bronze medal at the 100m butterfly earlier in the tournament.
