[edit] Seer or what
Kelly Martin got in 5 days before I predicted. I think your points are good ones, and at this stage I will return to my hole (after following kelly on about 'inappropriate' in one of the discussions) hold onto my usermania page and stay quiet until the 6th to see what really happens! Anyway they were fun while it lasted! SatuSuro 05:55, 1 January 2006 (UTC) oh for the new year I decided to get a new sig! SatuSuro 05:55, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, the big problem in wiki is when a controversy/debate gets too far on, it seems that some need to recognise correct procedure and be brought to task over it regardless of how self justified they feel!!! As for me, I like my little stash, carefully concealed. I probably will get to 100 and stop! But right on about getting people to comply with an agreeable policy, otherwise all is lost. Have a damn good year! SatuSuro 07:20, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Trenton, New Jersey
To tell you the truth, I can't remember. It was before my time (or before I was very active) - someone who threatened to sue, "in a court of law in Trenton, New Jersey". You'll need to ask an older head - I'd suggest Theresa Knott or Func, since I have seen them both use it. Guettarda 02:26, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] userbox proposed policy
Hi - there have been some slight alterations to my proposal (#4) subsequent to your support. I would be greatful if you could re-read the proposition and re-sign your name below the line if you still agree. Thanks, Deano (Talk) 20:20, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kaiser Permanente
Hi, Tantalum -
I saw your comment on Cotman68's Talk Page in regard to the dispute on the Kaiser Permanente page. I agree this is a personal dispute: am I allowed to take down the peer review tags?
--Pansophia 17:47, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kaiser Permanente
Hi, Tantalum -
Thanks for your reply about the Peer Review process. I don't want to make a formal request for deletion, especially if it's unprecedented: that might create a whole new level of dispute, and draw more people into it. I hate to let this guy count coup by slapping a sticker on the entry, though.
Ps. On rereading your note, it looks like you might be saying it's ok to take the sticker off the article, but to leave it on the Talk page. Have I got that right?

[edit] My Request for Adminship
Greetings, TantalumTelluride! I wanted to sincerely thank you for voting in my RfA, which passed with a final result of 55/14/3. Your support means a lot to me! And naturally, a special "thank you" is in order for your extremely outspoken and well-written defence of my RfA. I sincerely appreciated that. Thanks a lot! If you have any questions or input regarding my activities, be they adminly or just a "normal" user's, or if you just want to chat about anything at all, feel free to drop me a line. Cheers! —Nightstallion (?) 07:41, 4 January 2006 (UTC) |

[edit] evil
Ah maybe, but it will bring about interesting times! We need uninteresting times, that's the blessing! For people to expend such energy to justify their actions in zapping people, ah it's very telling... :) SatuSuro 16:23, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My RfA
Hi, I just want to say thanks for supporting me on my request for adminship! It passed by a 58/3/0 margin, so I am now an administrator. Additional thanks to you for answering some oppose votes for me! If you need me to help you out, or you find that I'm doing anything wrong, please don't hesitate to contact me. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 19:35, 6 January 2006 (UTC) |
[edit] I'm slowly getting back to Victor H.
I just completed a move to "winter quarters" in Florida ... and just set up my alternate internet connection. Great to see the peer review on VH !! Thanks !! I need to get to a public library and then I'll be able to do something about citing some additional sources. I don't expect to see Victoria over the short term ... but I'm sure she'd be happy with the recent developments. JerseyBob 21:08, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcoming
Hey, I just joined the welcomin commitee, altho I've been doin it alot for some time. First, would you look at Template:Welcome/Searchme to make sure everythings kosher, please. Second, I've been using a welcome table from User:Who, who welcomed me, you can find it here. It has within it {{User:Who/Welcomed}}</wiki>, what is that? Oh, and third, whats wrong with my nowiki's? Thnx ~~~~
Joe I 22:11, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- Your welcome template looks fine. If I were you, I'd use a different background color, but that's no big deal. The blank transclusion within Who's welcome template is used to keep track of all the newcomers he welcomes via Special:Whatlinkshere/User:Who/Welcomed. You can use a similar technique if you want to, as long as you always remember to substitute your welcomes in order to avoid double transclusions. --TantalumTelluride 22:29, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
-
- So all my welcomes I did with his template, are on his page? ok, thnx Joe I 22:42, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- Yes, if you have already welcomed someone with the welcome message in your sandbox, you have included them in Who's list. I don't know how many times you've used it, but you can take pages off the list simply by removing the {{User:Who/Welcomed}} tags. --TantalumTelluride 22:59, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

-
- Wow! I just looked at your contributions. You've been welcome-spamming! There's nothing wrong with that, except that you've added all of those newcomers to Who's list. --TantalumTelluride 23:08, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

- hehe, yeah, but thats ok, as long as I get the contrib, I'll leave a note for him. :) I moved the templete to User:Searchme/Welcomed, and {{db}} the templete, just cause I don't like rediricts. It doesn't give me a what links here list that way, but thats ok. I'll remove the logo as soon as I find something else. Joe I 00:16, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Many thanks for your support on my request for adminiship, I'm sure you'll be glad to know the final result was 92/1/0. I am now an administrator and (as always) if I do anything you have issue with, please talk about it with me. --Alf melmac 09:02, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your support on my request for bureaucratship.
The final outcome was (70/5/0), so I am now a bureaucrat. I seriously didn't expect so many good comments from everybody and I appreciated the constructive criticism from those that gave it. If you have any queries, suggestions or problems with any of my actions as a bureaucrat then please leave me a note. -- Francs2000 21:58, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[edit] Top etc.
I stumble across various projects doing stuff I think I can help out with, use the talk page, and contact with prior signed up, to see whether they welcome my suggested contributions, then when encouraged, go for it. User:Sj appears to be an administrator, and moderator of the Harvard Law School Wiki (link from here), and invited me to help out the students who are on Wiki via the Wikipedia:Wikiproject Cyberlaw, which is where you saw my "Top" comment. I also posted some stuff to their pages on the Harvard Law School Wiki.
A few days ago, User:The Neokid started what I thought would be a constructive project to help out with, Wikipedia:Helping Hand Group, but we may have a different perspective on what is needed to make significant progress, like actual improvements made by a team of enthusiasts.
So how did you happen to stumble over my post? User:AlMac|(talk) 03:32, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- You replied to this on my talk page.
As I had stated, I had spent some time on the Harvard Wiki, trying to be a constructive guest. I have learned several things in the last few days.
- There are these classes at Harvard Law School in which the students, among other things, are to participate in a Wiki, and make recommendations about how the Wiki community can better deal with some systemic problems.
- I have yet to see any evidence that their proposals are seeing the light of day on Wikipedia. Something perhaps the project should address. Perhaps I shall point Harvard's SJ at these remarks, in another of my suggestions.
- The students seem to be going thru a rigorous education in many issues of Cyberlaw which a lot of us who are not in law school could also learn from.
- Wikimania will be held the same place in Harvard where these classes going on, so I hope there is better inter-relationships between the folks organizing that, the folks doing the cyberlaw classes, and Wikipedia, than I have witnessed so far.

- You replied to this on my talk page.
- Thanks again. I said hello to the 3 lawyers. God, what credentials they have! I may use more of your great contacts later. I want to avoid violating WP:SPAM, whose precise rules I have yet to learn. User:AlMac|(talk) 13:20, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- Well I see that it is inappropriate to be posting similar thing on several talk pages, so instead I went to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Law then I will point other talk posts there, and perhaps add to what I put there, so the bulk is one place, and the other talk links abbreviated. [edit] My RfA
Thank you for your support! I have decided to withdraw my nomination, due to growing oppose votes due to my lack of experence (and because I have userboxes on my page?). I will now aim to continue, and broadern my scope from userboxes. I will accept a nomination, should one be made, in 1-2 months. Ian13ID:540053 18:18, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My Name Is Earl
Probably better off anyhow, I thought about saying that I should sue them, but that would sound too "Sidaway/Martin-ish" I suppose. Just as long as people don't think I copied NBC, i'll be happy.
I'm wondering now if I should say something to Kweber about the Colts, but it's probably better to let that lie. He's improved so much over the past few weeks. Karmafist 23:00, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

- Here is a problem. Don't know many people in Wikipedia other than.. well.. you now, and that is about it. I signed up for "admin coaching", but I have learned all technology and stuff on my own so I was kinda of suprised at the responses I got. --^BuGs^ 06:53, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- The quote I live by is: "The needs of the many, out-weigh the needs of the few." -- Star Trek Voyager Wikipedia? Yes. (Umm.. guess I need to add that to my user page.) --^BuGs^ 07:15, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

I'm making this work out one way or another. First go to www.talktna.com and put in my password and screename which is Blackhole_Slam and my password is christmas and u should be able to log in. Its rare for me to do this. After the sucessful login then go to this site: http://www.talktna.com/forum/calendar.php?s=&c=1&week=&=2&year=2006 and u should get the information.

- Wow, attack of the anons! Ian13ID:540053 19:00, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
- I reverted the anon's edits to SPUI's talk page because he's already stressed out over some votes for deletion, but I left that message here since it isn't really hurting anything. Removing it might have encouraged the anon to continue vandalising. I did subst it though; I can't stand transcluded user talk templates. --TantalumTelluride 19:40, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] An Esperanzial note
As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.
In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)
Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Many thanks for supporting my RfA...
...but unfortunately it wasn't successful on this occasion, receiving seven support votes, seven oppose and seven neutral - about as balanced as it gets really. I appreciate your support and hope we get a chance to collaborate on something in the future. All the best, Jamyskis
