Tanypezidae or stilt-legged flies is a family of true flies (Diptera). The Tanypezidae is a very small family found in the Nearctic Palaearctic and Neotropic zoogeographic zones.

Hardly anything is known of the biology of the family. The adults live in damp forests.

These are small (5 to 7 mm long) flies, slender and long-legged and sometimes with patches of silvery tomentum on the body. See[1]
