Tanya Parks is a politician in Manitoba, Canada.
Parks was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she continues to reside. She is the owner of Distant Caravan in the Forks Market region, and has volunteered for UNICEF and Folklorama.
In the provincial election of 2003, Parks ran as a Liberal candidate in the north-end Winnipeg riding of Concordia against New Democratic Premier Gary Doer. She placed third with 419 votes (about 7% of the total), against 4,450 for Doer.
In the federal election of 2004, Parks ran as a Liberal against veteran New Democratic MP Bill Blaikie in the east Winnipeg riding of Elmwood—Transcona. She once again placed third, receiving 4,923 votes against Blaikie's 15,221. Parks's candidacy was undertaken at the last minute, when no one else in the Liberal Party was willing to run in this safe NDP seat.
Also in 2004, Parks was the guest of provincial Liberal leader Jon Gerrard for the unveiling of a statue of the Mahatma Gandhi, which was a gift from the government of India to Winnipeg in anticipation of the city's new Human Rights Museum.
