From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tanya Nicole Kach, born 14 October 1981, is a woman who was held captive by a security guard from her school for 10 years in McKeesport, Pennsylvania in the United States. She was reported missing on 10 February 1996 at the age of 14. She was found alive on 23 March 2006. Tanya had been living at the home of Thomas John Hose, 48, a school security guard at Cornell Middle School when Kach was a student there. She had been living in the same town where her father lived in a home about two miles away.

Tanya was locked in a bedroom in Thomas Hose's house, which he shared with his elderly parents. During this time, she was told what to eat and wear. She also had no contact with anyone other than those who lived in Hose's house.

Hose was charged with statutory sexual assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of a minor and interference with the custody of children. Judith Clara Sokol, 57, a former beautician of McKeesport, was charged with the same crimes.[1] She is accused of altering Kach's appearance and withholding information from child welfare investigators.[2] She allegedly dyed Kach's hair [1].
